Story How Trick or Treat started...

"Trick or treat" has become the most popular activity among the many forms of Halloween celebrations in America, and it is also a rather recent development. Trick or treating has been around less than a hundred years. Having children going door-to-door to get sweet treats has developed into a community wide event….but it didn’t start out that way.

The best clue for how trick or treat got started comes to us from the Middle, or Dark Ages, when the Catholic church approved the act of "Souling". This event was devised so that poor beggars could go around asking for food, usually barley or oat cakes, in exchange for prayers. The Catholic Church said the prayers were an extra bit of "insurance" that a dead person's spirit would be given entry into heaven.

The origins of the Trick Demon were an urban myth for over a hundred years. Scores of children go missing during the celebration…this is one of those stories.

The year was 1916.....

@Queen_Shine was Trick or Treating with her younger brother Max. Max was an ordinary kid. He was born on 6-6-1906. As the two of them trekked from house to house across the snow the vile Trick Demon stalked them. His long sharp fangs and thin body made him difficult to see (even in the daylight). He often resembled a tall thin tree during the day.

@Queen_Shine was unaware of the sinister stalker as he followed them from house to house. Both she and Max were crossing an open field to get to another neighborhood when the Trick Demon made his move.

In slow motion Queen_Shine saw the demon in the middle of the field they were walking toward. She instinctively pushed her brother back to protect him. The Trick Demon closed 20 yards quickly and was within 5 yards of her and her brother. The demon’s long jaded teeth glistened in the moonlight as she saw him preparing to pounce.

In a sudden turn of events, Max (@18kss) stepped in front of her. He took off his “Devil” mask and looked the demon right in the eye. She could see the tall demon salivating at the chance to eat her brother. Before she knew it two Werewolves (@jaydenchad) and (@Wolfasa), Boogeyman (@Jesterguy ), Ghost (@Phanta ) and Vampire (@Knaber) appeared surrounding them all. The Trick Demon lunged at Max (18kss) and in a flash the other monsters intercepted him and began to maul the Trick Demon.

She stared at her brother who was transfixed on the Demon. His eyes glowed a fire red ember. Max looked at her and winked.

The Trick Demon had been destroyed by other creatures of the night…
