So for an engineering club, I have to design 3 projects. One of them is a balsawood aeroplane, one of them is a popsicle stick bridge, and the last one is an egg drop. The first two I probably won't get help from anywhere but the club said I can get "research" from any source. And since people on youtube use cheat designs, I'm going to ask right here. (It's legal to ask you guys technically).

So I have to put an egg in a box and it cannot crack (or I'm disqualified). Nothing can be outside the box like a parachute. The box can contain any household materials, but not something like a kit that's meant to work. Last year some dude from my school used sponges and won. It seems relatively simple but its actually hard to find something that can cushion perfectly without destroying the egg. It shouldn't be too hard like steel or else the egg will crack duh. But at the same time if it's too soft the egg might just break through it and crack on the cardboard. Any ideas?

If it's on the premise that it's strictly household materials, I'd go with marshmallows and tissue paper on the bottom, marshmallows being a soft sort of shock absorber, and tissue paper because well it's soft and holds, not hard really.

However if you can go out and just buy your stuff to build, make a cone or a sleeve within the box, out of like a sort of foam, I know for a fact they sell at it home depot. Cone being there so it catches and stops, but doesn't hit big on surface area so that there's no big impact from below.

Hmm marshmallows seem like a good idea.

Pack it full of an absolute load of bubblewrap.

I did this sort of same experiment , you guys are lucky to be able to use more useful materials.
All we got was 30 cm of tape, 3 sheets of newspaper, one a4 sheet of paper cardboard and a few straws and skewer sticks. And our egg survived the first 2 falls, but cracked on a 8 m high drop.
But my recommendation is using sponges at the bottom of your "Egg pod" to absorb the force. Marshmallows might be used to cushion the egg inside it.
Have you thought of using string and a plastic bag to make a sort of "parachute" for it? Never underestimate air resistance.
