    The intention of this thread is to address the progress of the said "War 2.0". This thread was written with as many details and factual dates as possible, but we simply do not have all of the details to back up everything below. We are posting this in hopes to provide a transparent look at the conflicts we have been trying to gloss over for too long now. Why this wasn't released earlier, we're not exactly sure. We were kind of just trying to depend on the various developers to eventually finish the project with the details still remaining hidden.

    Past:

    orange451 initially coded War with a minimal amount of Java and Bukkit knowledge. The server wasn't planned in full, so features were added as the server continued to be developed and grow. What begun as a kit based gun server developed into War with clans, perks, and equipment. That all was fine, but the server begun to grow more and more and become deprecated as Bukkit updated and the original code stayed.

    As time went on big features and such begun to halt, but small updates still happened regularly. Though, the server was beginning to become less and less efficient. The code wasn't up to par anymore with the new standards between Java and Bukkit.

    We begun to discuss creating the second iteration of War, War 2.0. orange451 begun by refactoring and coding new parts of the server. Looking back on Google Drive, I can find todo lists and feature additions dated between May 16, 2013 and August 17, 2013. orange451's progress was superior to the current version of War, but still lacking in some areas. orange451 did finish this version of War and begun to release it as follows:
    The test ended up being unsuccessful because of lag issues at the end of the match. orange451 begun to debug and work on that, and the other issues, but we then ran into:

    So, the "War 2.0" that everyone was anticipating was up to orange451, but he failed to resolve the issues with the lag at the end of the match (which was the last major issue). He begun to become more and more inactive as a developer and he was eventually fired while the project was switched to being developed by killer_99, or melsha.

    Present:

    After the project was switched to killer_99, he begun work on a fork of Bukkit which would allow us to do insane things with the bullets. This was essential because we could allow snowballs to shoot through players and control their speed and accuracy with fine precision. This was quite a large task to do, but we did it and are actually still running that custom build today. We went though a ton of work and bugs while switching our servers to his system, if anyone remembers.

    Months later, we continued to let killer_99 pursue War, but he wasn't getting any actual in-game progress done. During his development time, he would end up spending all of his time making backend systems and improvements instead. While these improvements are needed, the community simply cannot understand that this takes a ton of time. He is an insane developer, but he takes it over the top a lot of times.

    So, we ended up having killer_99 halt directly working on the new version of War. That brings us to the present, where the new version of War is just a concept again, as it started.

    Future:

    After Wild West is released and out of beta, Signatured and Mario will be developing the new version of War. Once the development begins, Signatured will be posting daily updates on his Twitter and development logs of what has been completed and what's to be worked on next.

    The planning and constant progress will be shown no matter what secrets we may want to contain. War will have the highest developer to player communication than ever before.

    Conclusion:

    We understand that this information may be frustrating to you, but we hope that we can change the previous ways we have performed our transparency and lack of information about our development. This thread was not posted for you to excuse or forgive us, rather for transparency between us and you, the community.

    Wow, planning to post daily updates on what has been done, is something that I've never seen before, but everyone has probably always wanted. I don't play that much war, but I'll be following the progress anyways, thanks for the post Putty.

    Haha talk to me when you release some real stuff. People lost interest after many problems and war is slowly dying while the others are rising. Idk what you guys are planning to do, but if you don't have Signatured and Mario working on it ASAP, it's gone.

    So Orange was actually fired? Now that's something I didn't know.
    I were around when the testing server got up in 2013, but for some reason, I didn't touch it. And then we waited, and waited, and waited for the real thing to be released, with little to no information. Thanks for clearing everything up.

    It was an update that was to be released like 1 or 2 years ago but got cancelled because orange went inactive.

    Honestly, I've waiting so long for war and now I'm more excited for Wild West, I'm glad that's the priority, can't wait.
