MC-War needs fixing up

    I'm a pretty new member on Brawl (Been playing about a week or so) and I have noticed many bugs and issues with the plugins. I have no idea who made them but they are not made very well. This thread is pointing out all the issues, how to fix them and some suggestions of my own.

    Issues:
    1. One of the main issues I have seen with brawl is that you spawn horribly when playing in games. This is due to the locations having no yaw and pitch.
    The location that Bukkit/Spigot uses has two constructors, one with x, y, z and one with x, y, z, yaw and pitch. The yaw and pitch is where you look and your positioning. Without this you will always look south (positive z, 0, 0) this is an issue because on many of the maps when you spawn you end up looking the wrong way, which means you then need to turn around which makes it easier for spawn killers to kill you and is insanely annoying. Save the yaw and pitch!! Methods are getYaw() and getPitch()

    2. If you aim with a python while looking at something like sand because the gun is a gold shovel it breaks it very fast and you get killed for block glitching. This can be very annoying when you are in combat.

    3. The ammo of the gun. Gun ammo is really low and when you're new (No idea about when you're a higher level) this is a huge issue. I often run out of ammo on a 3 or 4 killstreak and therefor I still need a kill or so before I can get some more. Then after that you will run out again. I need to switch to my pistol which has a much lower chance of winning gun battles and I often die. This could really be balanced more, I think you should get more ammo to start with. The only solution to this right now that I've seen is buying the scavenger perk which is really pathetic. I see no reason why I should have to pay $3 just to survive longer and get more ammo. This is a very pay to win feature.

    4. I play with @fillpant who is a level 125 and has been playing for a long time. He wanted to take me to these awesome places in spawn but we couldn't because redstone is disabled now in the spawn. I think it would be good to either enable it again or make another way to get to the places. You could also get a plugin to just handle interaction with pressure plates or something so when it is activated then it will open up. It would not be hard to fix this issue.

    5. XP. Again when I was talking to fillpant he said there used to be a better way of seeing your xp than just the xp bar. I think there should be a better way to see how much xp you have and how much you need. The higher you get the more annoying it will be to track your xp and see how much you need. The xp bar is in my opinion not a good way to show level progress. For this I suggest something on the sidebar or maybe a bossbar saying something like "Level: 12 100xp/120xp" or something like that. It would not be hard to add but this is not as easy in 1.8 due to the change of bossbars.

    6. Make infected more balanced. It's not that easy to get kills in infect if you're the zombie without something pay to win like the C4. Especially since a lot of alive people are using ray guns, these paid items make it very hard to get a good score in infect. I support servers making money but I don't like when it is like this and you need to pay just to get a good KDR in a game.

    Suggestions:
    • Fix all of the above
    • Maybe add more loadouts, the gamemode is based on the game Call of Duty and there you can have multiple loadouts. I think this would be really nice to have and you could sell more which wouldn't be pay to win :smile:

    If I have missed anything out please tell me and I will add it in.

    Couple of things here:
    1. Orange451 coded War. He retired.
    2. I don't think the admins are going to go changing the spawns for every map.
    3. Perks are $3, not $5.
    4. Red stone was disabled because of the amount of lag the server was suffering.

    2. They don't need to, all that needs changing is the plugin to register yaw and pitch and then just change the place where the maps are stored and add a yaw and pitch.
    3. Sorry, my mistake.
    4. Ok, well as I said they could have a plugin to just detect when a pressure plate is pushed and do what is needed.

    More things to add.
    Orange's coding on war is all wacky and broken, it's near impossible to fix it.
    To make infect balanced, increase the spawn protection. Reducing the knockback would be good, however you're kinda limited to Orange's coding.

    Nothing is impossible! fixing up code will take some time espeically if we consider the tiem it will take to read and understand it but from then on, the developer involved will be able to keep it up. I mean, come on! war is so popular and sucha nice game, dont you think its worth it?

    in my opinion, redstone wasn't the cause of lag... I belive that if the code was in peak efficiency the lag wouldnt be caused.

    Of course fixing the code is possible. What Pikmin is trying to say is that the code is so messed up that it is not worth the time to fix the coding of the whole server, especially with the new War server being worked on. Having a developer spend months fixing the current code would increase the amount of time till War 2.0 comes out.

    I am not sure if war 2.0 will ever come... i mean, 1.9 is arround the corner and if version depended NMS is used in the current war plugin, the update will break it, and with orange being retired, none will fix it... So yeah..
    Also who is doing the War 2.0 code?
