    Copyrights on Youtube:
The copyrights are a very important subject for the whole of the youtube community. The sections below indicate to you how gain access to the informations and the useful tools of your copyrights around YouTube. You will also discover more informations about the rights of other creators.

    What is copyright?:
In many jurisdictions, when a person creates an original work that is fixed in a physical medium, he or she generally automatically owns copyright to the work. The owner has the exclusive right to use the work in certain, specific ways.

    1) Which types of work are subject to copyright?
    • Audiovisual works, such as TV programmes, films and online videos
    • Sound recordings and musical compositions*
    • Written works, such as lectures, articles, books and musical compositions
    • Visual works, such as paintings, posters and advertisements
    • Video games and computer software
    • Dramatic works, such as plays and musicals
Ideas, facts and processes are not subject to copyright. In order to be eligible for copyright protection, a work must be both creative and fixed in a tangible medium. Names and titles are not, by themselves, subject to copyright.

    2) Can I use a copyright-protected work without infringing?
In some circumstances, it is possible to use a copyright-protected work without infringing the owner's copyright.

Your video can still be claimed by a copyright owner, even if you have...

    • Given credit to the copyright owner
    • Refrained from monetising the infringing video
    • Noticed similar videos that appear on YouTube
    • Purchased the content on iTunes, a CD or DVD
    • Recorded the content yourself from the TV, cinema or the radio
    • Stated that “no copyright infringement is intended”

Some content creators choose to make their work available for re-use subject to certain requirements

*Plenty of musics can be used without being protected.
    Such as:

There are obviously more, and this can be useful for these who want to start a YouTube channel and want to monetize their videos and so be paid.

Having one copyrighted and monetized video will get you one "strike". If you get 3 strikes, you channel will be deleted forever and ever, so be clever, there is no turning back after your channel is deleted.

    "301" views on a video:
When a video is published and the latter reaches 301 views, youtube leaves the video at 301 view during one day for some reasons:

When a video is posted on YouTube, this video is spread to a lot of servers around the world. For example, if you're watching a video from Paris, the latter is on a server based in France or in Europe. Then the servers send the information to YouTube "This video has been watched once on my server" (<- example).

Youtube differentiates two kinds of videos:

≤300 views: When a video has been watched 10, 20, 100, 200 times until 300, YouTube leaves the video reaching >300 views.

    >300 view: YouTube reckons that the view should be verified, and YouTube checks if there are no robots who may increase the views. Then YouTube removes these false views and shows the real number of views.

If you didn't understand what I meant, check out the video:

Hope this guide will be helpful.

I love the guide! It's very informative and everyone that wants to start or continue their Youtube channel should read this! I have one thing to add: I know it's bad to use copyrighted content, but if you do, you will get a copyright notification but your nothing will happen to your video if you have a small enough channel and the video is not monetized (ads).
