Whether you want to make a face cam or a fiction, there is something that will make the quality of your videos better, and against all odds, this isn't the 4K, this is the lights. That's a piece of luck because at the end of this guide you will have a good command of how to use the lights.

The lights are very important for your camera. You can use with a reflex camera or with an iPhone, but if there's no light, nothing will be satisfactory.
For this guide, I'm going to speak only about the filming indoor, because on YouTube, most of the videos are indoor. Whatever it be, whichever the content, best do it with quality.

When you guys are indoor, we will based on a very simple principle: The three-points lighting.

A first light needs to be placed behind you, with en eye to separate the person from the scenery. This one is called the "backlight".

An other one, on your right, has to light up the bulk of your face. It's called the "key light".

And the last one, the "fill light", on your left. It lights up the face as well but has to be less intense, in order to bring the shades of your face.

If you're more ambitious than lots of "moviemakers" and you want to film outside, you guys have got at your beck and call the most powerful and cheaper light: the sun. When it's sunny, it will be easier for you to reflect the lights ahead the person, by means of golden, white and silvered panels. If it's cloudy, lucky you because the person will be identical.

There are three kinds of light on the market, and this might interest you.

    1) The Softbox: allows you to create a soft and diffuse light day colored (like the sun for example). I advise you to install them in front of you (as key and fill lights).

    2) The Fluorescents: allows you to clear a more intense light, day colored too. You ought to place them as your back backlight.

    3) The "Mandarins:" allows you to clear a powerful light, warm colored. You shouldn't use them if you want to film indoors.

I hope this guide helped you.
A new one will come out the next week, about the sound.

Dang, nice job. It seems like you're a movie director already xD. I might grab a few tricks from the 'book' whenever I need to film or something.
