The '/ping' Command (Addition)

    I think I suggested this sometime before, don't think I made a full thread about it. Basically it's an add-on to the ping command. If you write a player's name after it then it will show the player's ping. The reason this got shot down by some people before is because that you can look at ping through tab. But let me remind you that it can sometimes change, and if you take a picture of it then it could change to full bars. That way if you just keep on typing something like '/ping MrWaffleman' it will show the whole entire chat listing my ping.

    Now you might say: "Why do we even need this?". The reason we do is because when reporting a hacker of "blink" or of another movement hack such as speed. You have to keep mind of lag. That's why when reporting those hackers you must have tab open. If the player has full bars, then it's most probably blink. This ping feature can easily show if the player was lagging, and saves time trying to look through all the players and find the actual player connection.

    I agree with you, but should have a cooldown or you could easily use it for a Dos.

    The server caches and updates the ping automatically, so getting the ping doesn't require any network operation. Meaning it won't at all lag the player.

    I feel like it's way harder to type /ping <name> a bunch of times than to just check tab.

    I didn't really know the part that Waffleman said, I though it was a connection Player-Player, but not Player-Server-Player

    There's no such thing as player-player connections.

    What about hamachi hm? Or self hosted servers where the player is also the host?

    Hamachi isnt player-player. Its player- hamachi servers- player.the data is tunneled trough hamachis servers.

    What exactly do you mean with self hosted servers?

    Its 00:25 here.. So my brain's kinda slow

    Hamachi servers are self hosted, by vpn, those servers aree installed in the client when he downloads the appl. which also uses UDP connections. Servers are located in the host client.

    By self hosted server i mean the ones that can be hosted by a normal person, example, downloading them in the official mc page, where the host is located on the owner again. :smile:

    Those connections are Player-Player; where one of those players is also the server c:

    Just realized that hamachi connections are player - player connections. I did just assume that hamachi works in the same way as grappl.
