I think that since prospecting did touch a bit of the old west, there should be a way to search for gold in water. Other then prospecting by mining gold, in this thread I'll explain a way to add another way of prospecting. That other way being panning for gold.

Perhaps in town shops there should be a purchasable item, that is a gold catcher. (Those things you put in water and shake the water/gravel out hoping to find gold...) It will have 5-10 uses, with a few minutes cool down with each use. To use it the player has'd to left click a natural water source, probably the main river in the WW map. Upon using it, the player they will have a low chance of receiving either an amount of gold nuggets (which should be sold to gem collectors) or an amount of gold ounces. (money) Profits from prospecting should be completely luck based.

    • A single use should take about 2-3 minutes, and will cancel if the player goes out of range.
    • Amount of gold nuggets/gold ounces should vary for each use, a use has a chance of no profits.
    • Gold nuggets should sell for 10-15 each.
    • The item used, the 'gold catcher' or 'gold pan' should cost about 1-2 thousand gold ounces.
    • Maximum profits from a use should be about 32 nuggets and 500 ounces, but it should vary between those numbers and zero.
    • Where a player should be able to use a gold pan should be water sources like rivers out of safe zones.

Actual statistics above and other assets of this feature are something I would like to discuss on this thread.

It's a really good idea. My support.
Anyway if the map is inspired in the original wild west and not the western spaghetti the river is called Rio Bravo, just sayin

I like the idea, but maybe the time could be lowered? Also, it would be cool the amount of profit made from this was less varied, and either closer to the maximum profit or near nothing at all. It would give it that potential to strike it rich quick feeling.

Well, actually striking gold was determined by the richness of gold in the rocks and around the rivers, so it was pretty luck based. And I guess the time could be reduced.
It's kind of a gamble, to buy a gold pan with a chance of big profits, or nothing. Like buying alcohol.
