Idea Monetisation?

    Call me crazy, but I'd like to see more monetisation of the server. The way I see it, the more money Build brings in, the more love it's going to get. So, how would Brawl go about doing this?

    What's most important is that players don't have to pay for features that are currently free. Any monetisation should apply only to new features since Build is pretty much perfect as it is.

    One obvious addition would be to sell maps. There's no downside, it's a no-brainer, really.

    Another idea would be to use Build to redirect players to other gamemodes, then market the hell out of Build. Believe me, I've tried to look for better creative servers for one reason or another, but they all follow the same formula of laggy plot worlds, vote for WE, work your way up the ranks to unlock all features. MinecraftBuild allows you to just get on and build, and not capitalising on that is real missed opportunity.

    By encouraging players to build gamemode maps (CTF, War, Party etc) you'd also be encouraging them to play those gamemodes and potentially buy more stuff from the shop. This could be done through, say, a spawn item (like the "create map" emerald) that provides you with build ideas. Ideally, you'd advertise the Build server everywhere to bring players in, suggest that they make gamemode maps, then sit back as the money rolls in. Plus, new gamemode maps and the devs have an incentive to focus on Build. What's not to like?

    Aside from the money side of things, I'd like to see Visitor able to use redstone, and a Trusted rank with no responsibilities that's allowed to use banned blocks, toggle async etc.

    What about you guys?

    First, have you done a market study? How sure you are that will work?

    Second, the first rule of capitalism, distribute works, who would be the one in charge for that? Is not going to be done by itself. You need people to do that, and they aren't mostly to do it free; you have to be sure that the money you will earn is enough to pay the workers and gain some for yourself, otherwise, what would be the point?

    The idea is awesome, but as I said you have to make sure it will work.
    For example I wouldn't pay fo that, I would probably leave the server and find another one. What makes you sure that people won't leave?

    If I were you I would make a poll asking people if they like the idea :smile:

    It's just a suggestion so I haven't looked thoroughly into it, it's just based off what I know to be true: if you want to find a creative server, you're going to look on PMC, TopG, that sort of website. The thing about the servers you find there is that almost every single one follows the same vote-and-money-grubbing format, which I've talked about above.

    Build is indisputably better due to its lack of WE and spatial restrictions, as well as its comparable reliability and innovative world system, but you can't find anything about it outside of Brawl. All I'm saying is that if a little time and money was invested into advertisement, we'd see a great return.

    Also, I wasn't suggesting players pay for every map, I meant that we'd keep the system we have now (1 map per player with extras for ranks and mapmakers), but the option to purchase more would be there.

    Build is just amazing, ain't better creative server.

    What I mean is that you need to sit down, do some checks and see if the gainances would be higher than the losses.

    I do agree there should be a way to buy extra maps.
