From my experience so far with the new Hardcore Games on Brawl, most players, well, most of the vocal players, are "ex-mcpvp veterans". Now, how do I know this? Well, every time I log onto a game, there's at least one person - usually joined by more - who is going on about the "good old days". People feel the need to show off how long ago they first logged onto the old mcpvp servers, like it's some kind of achievement. People's titles on the forums, for example. It's all well and good having the title "Ex-Mcpvp Veteran" or whatever, but when "Member since <insert date most likely to be pre-2012 here>" is used, it just feels like that's all that matters. Whether it's respect you guys are after, or something else, constantly reminding us of the days where the servers were "good" won't really fix anything. I was on the other day, and some guy literally told me the story of mcpvp in response to me asking him a question about how he's enjoying his time on the servers. The story was basically an attempt to prove how much these "good old days" were. Now, I was around, like most people were, during the "golden years" of mcpvp. And to be honest, those memories are pretty mediocre. Sure, there were more players. But, if I remember correctly, there was still lag. In fact, I'm pretty sure the lag has decreased since moving to a server that has the capacity to deal with all the players. It seems to me that the thing people are missing from the old mcpvp servers is the community. Although I did play on the servers, I never really integrated myself with the community but I'm sure that it was really nice. Guys, Brawl cannot solve this problem. You can. If we all just focussed more on the community, rather than try to prove to one another how much more of a veteran you are than the next guy, then we can really get somewhere. It doesn't matter how long you've been playing, what matters is we're here now.

You know what made me start this rant? A member of the forums posted a thread titled "Old Mcpvp Players List", in which the original poster has put together a list of so-called "old school mcpvpers". First of all, this list of his didn't include every old mcpvper, nor did he amend it when people replied saying that them or others should be added. Second, what's the point? This kind of thing just encourages the behaviour I was just mentioning. We shouldn't be ranking each other by the time we played, but by our skill - wins, losses, kills and what not. Like I said, I've been around for a good while but I'm pretty sh*t at it. Especially soup. Me typing in the date I first logged on to mcpvp doesn't change that.

That said, the rest of the forums are usually valid complaints and guides and ideas. This is the kind of thing that helps the community. It's in the actual games where people are actually getting into fights over who has played mcpvp longer. It's just pointless, and I really hope everyone can just focus on where we are. The mcpvp we all grew to love is gone, along with it's amazing quantity of players, but, and I hate to say this, get over it. It'll be so much easier if everyone stopped getting lost in nostalgia and accept themselves as part of the Brawl community, because then we can make it great.

We as a community had alot of fun in the past and are kind of sad about this era and it's nice to talk about old players/times, we're not bragging, because I've played something longer does not make me better than anybody. I don't see a problem making an old Mcpvper list either. I disagree. "The list didn't have every old mcpvper" was it claimed that it would? who cares it's just players he remembers

I'm aware there are some people talking about brawl being ****ty etc and that I don't agree with

People are just sick and tired of seemingly being ignored by Brawl. Also, mcpvp had no lag when there was over 150 players, yet Brawl has lag when there is over 50. So yes there is more lag on Brawl then mcpvp and we want that fixed, especially since it's been over 7 months since HG was transferred.

Look. Just because I'm defending brawl, do not think for one second that I am not one of you. I played mcpvp back in 2012, just like you. I spent hours upon hours in the day playing it, just like you. I'm simply stating howling at the wind doesn't do sh*t.

Anyways, I think that talking about our past experiences brings nostalgia. I often will see old friends and refer back to old times. I don't think it's bad, nor do I think it's something people use to show off.

Requesting lock because lots of flaming/swearing @Lord_Roke @Cuddled

Why are you commenting on a thread about a gamemodes you obviously know very little, if anything, about?

I played McPvp a while back, but even if I didn't know about the server, the thread is talking about how people talk about how old they are to show off. Doesn't matter if I've played McPvp a ton, or not. I was giving my opinion of players who refer to themselves as veterans. I most likely played way before you anyways.

People talk about how old they are just for fun, not to show off.

Agreed. People love talking about old times just for the memories of it. I don't think anyone is competing with each other for who is the older player. I think it's just for the sole purpose of talking about old times, and maybe sharing some memories back from when some players didn't join yet.

We should trade titles then, Jack?. But to be fair, it is an achievement for some, as it shows loyalty and how they've been here since the start. And, I mean, why have a go at people for talking about old memories, and enjoyable moments?
