The GSG story - 500 members special

Hey Brawlers! It’s me SkullcrusherLD.

First of all: If you don’t have enough time to read this whole thread, don’t start with it. This story is supposed to be read completely, so I won’t use spoilers. Leave a like, switch to another thread and come back if you have enough time.

GSG has finally reached 500 members! It has always been my dream to achieve that and I am proud we did it. I’d like to tell you a whole story: The story of GSG from my point of view. You will get an overview of three years GSG, with summaries of 12 different GSG clan threads, connections and background information. You will have access to secret conversations, funny stories, ups and downs, years of GSG. Enjoy!

The history

Roke’s time:

04/2013 Clans have been edited. @Lord_Roke decided to create a clan, based on the German counter-terrorism and special operations unit (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSG_9). Sadly it wasn’t possible to use four letters (GSG9), so he decided to take just three: GSG. Nevertheless, there have been several stories about what the name is really based on. Here are my two favorites: 1) Lord_Roke decided to make his own clan referencing one of his favorite games, GTA. Grove Street Gang. Could that be possible? For sure. But here’s number 1) GSG like German Skype Generals. Like Roke told me years ago, he thought about “German Skype Generals” because the GSG staff had their conversation on Skype. But after some time he realized, it doesn’t sound that cool, so he looked up what GSG could mean too… I am still not sure if he made a joke or not.

At the beginning GSG used to be level 25+ (for a short time), Roke changed it to 20+. Ye, back then a small “lukasdrechsel” (aka me) was also very excited, because they have added clans. I have played war since late 2012, but not really regularly. So a few weeks after Roke created GSG, I came online - GSG destroyed me completely, especially Roke went ham. Of course the first thing I wanted to do was: Join GSG! But I wasn’t allowed to, because I was level 17. You cannot imagine how angry I was. I swore to myself: “If I lead a clan, I won’t say ‘no’ to someone, I’ll appreciate every single member!” Nevertheless I tried my best to become level 20+ and join GSG.
The Clan of Honor/Clan of Community/Clan of Braveness (https://www.brawl.com/threads/1131/) was amazing.

07/2013 GSG hit 500 members after three month and used to be the biggest Mc-War clan. Look the video closely, you might find your face and remember you were in GSG too…

This was around the time I decided to apply for GSG mod. I had been in GSG 1 month, left for a week to help a friend, but rejoined very fast and stayed 2 more months. I was level 38, fresh, newbish and hoped I could be GSG mod. After I applied on Skype, Roke wrote “Eine der besten Apps, die ich je gelesen habe”//One of the best applications, I’ve ever read” I am still very proud, because Roke has praised me only two times. I became GSG mod (I think number 12). I didn’t was as important as Procreeper112 (Roke’s right hand), but at least mod.
To be honest, I wasn’t a really loyal mod.

08/2013 Like every single member around level 50, I thought I could create my own clan and it would have success too. My clan (LDG à Lukas Drechsel Germany) had no requirements and I am very sure I had like 3 people above 30+ in it. It was terrible.

10/2013 GSG grew not that fast anymore and I thought my 100 people clan LDG would be awesome. This was the time I became the person I am today: the try-hard inviter. I have spammed after every game to get somebody in my clan. I was so annoying that I got banned for three days one time. Luckily somebody I moded just kicked me out of my own clan. I tried my best to get it back (spammed Orange and Roke on the forums https://www.brawl.com/threads/3933/), but I am glad nothing happened. It was a clear thing: I rejoined GSG. At this prime time war had 12 servers and server 6 and 2 were GSG servers. If you came to 6 and you weren’t in GSG… rip.

12/2013 Roke didn’t really care I rejoined, because I was just an unloyal, noobish mod, so I wasn’t even counted in the new thread Roke created about GSG (https://www.brawl.com/threads/6788/).
GSG had 580 members and was “just” number two. It slowly began to die the first time.

03/2014 More and more members started to leave GSG. Our highest member counter was around 600 people (January 2014), but it became lesser after that. People started to discuss if GSG is even alive anymore (https://www.brawl.com/threads/11497/). One reason was that Procreeper left around this time. He was like the most important mod and it was hard for Roke and GSG to stay active, so he stopped playing war. I didn’t really care about Procreeper. I was never on the forums, just played sometimes.

04/2014 One last mod got promoted, even if Roke wasn’t active anymore and his alt (IcelordLP) hold his clan… mod number 56: @King_Daan. One year. GSG had lived exactly one year. Roke decided to post a thread GSG is official dead (https://www.brawl.com/threads/14221/) I was kind of salty. I just started to be loyal and identify with the clan and now... he just closed it! Moreover I wasn’t in the tags, Roke made for the persons who helped him most (If I look back: absolute understandable) Nevertheless I didn’t leave. I just stayed even if everybody told me how dead GSG is.

My relationship to Roke:

That’s it with Roke’s time. To close this part I’d like to talk about my relationship to Lord_Roke. I will be honest. He is my big role model and I always wanted to prove something. To get his attention one time. His praise. I am glad he did it after we got 500 members yesterday:

It means something like "well done". I am proud.

Daan’s time:

06/2014 King_Daan became the most active mod. I didn’t play that much anymore and didn’t realize he brought GSG slowly back. Furthermore I was on vacation. He invited many old members and did his best to make GSG alive again (https://www.brawl.com/threads/18001/).
And it worked. More and more members joined and GSG became a superpower once more as Squeakily can approve (https://www.brawl.com/threads/18175/).

07/2014 Daan became our Co-owner. I didn’t know that too, because back then I wasn’t active on the forums. He worked together with Lord_Roke to get GSG more and more active again. If you look here (https://www.brawl.com/threads/18399/), you will find the “fresh” GSG clan thread. It was the very first time my name has been mentioned in a GSG clan thread. Daan even made a special thread for “How to become moderator”: https://www.brawl.com/threads/18593/ If you take a closer look to it, you will figure out that there are some sentences, which feel kind of familiar… Yeah, I copied some of them to today’s thread.

In this month a funny story between Daan and me can also be found, after I came back from my vacation: I left GSG because I wanted something fresh and I never saw one single GSG mod. I didn’t know Daan brought it back and so I left and joined AkSc, @CaptainBrawler ‘s clan. Of course I got mod directly. Two day later I met Daan and a few GSG members and I was that happy, there are some, so I decided to rejoin quickly. Back in those days, it wasn’t possible to see if somebody is a clan moderator. I have still to laugh if I think back. But of course, he was right.

08/2014 At the beginning of August there was the big “clan reset”. No members, no clans, no mods… everything was possible again. Roke decided to start GSG again, with new, fresh power (https://www.brawl.com/threads/20732/). At least at the beginning. Don’t ask me how Daan did it, but 8 days later, he was the owner and made, again, a new GSG clan thread (https://www.brawl.com/threads/21294/) It was a very good thread and Daan came up with something new: the requirement has been changed to level 31+!

King_Daan started a GSG staff conversation too. After 6 months we had 102 replies. Terrible. Daan used to make some short lists who’s the most active and best mod, but because the most mods weren’t active on the forums it looked really sad:


11/2014 Although King_Daan (and me) tried our best, GSG didn’t grow. There were so many fresh, new clans after the reset (blame especially Pr0), that a GSG without Lord_Roke and a good and active moderator team couldn’t work. We lowered our requirements back to 20+.

01/2015 – 10/2015 Nothing happened. King_Daan didn’t play that much anymore, and then suddenly he lost his owner powers. He hadn’t the tag anymore and couldn’t invite/mod people. GSG died again. Nevertheless he became more and more inactive, stayed owner and didn’t try to get the tag back. I have sat here for ten months looking on the death of GSG, crying in a corner. Again everybody told me how dead GSG is and that I should leave. In February I changed my name to SkullcrusherLD and became even more active to try to fight against it. I have got the master in inviting people, but without an owner and any mods besides me… you are lost.

My relationship to Daan:

I never accept Daan completely. That’s why I always has been a little bit rude to him and didn’t appreciate his work. If I look back I think he did a great job. He had just bad luck that he didn’t get good mods, but his ideas for GSG were epic. Moreover he always praised me very much, although I was shooting at him. Thank you very much Daan.

SkullcrusherLD’s time:

At the end of October I started a conversation with Roke and Daan if I could become the GSG owner. It took more than 3 weeks until everything had been done, because Daan didn’t want to give the ownership away and Roke was slow like always.
But Daan finally gave me his blessing and supported me (https://www.brawl.com/threads/50575/).

I copied many things from Daan and Roke, but I also changed a lot, due my experience in moderating & leading a clan: 1) We set our requirements back to 30+. Good players don’t want to play with “noobs”. 2) I have known that moderators are the most important people in a clan, so I made some decisions: It has been a lot harder to become a GSG mod than ever before. Furthermore I am very picky and want my mods to be hyper-active (to avoid something like Daan happened). Moreover I know: You stay there, where you have powers. That’s why every GSG mod has much more rights than ever before or in another clan. As a GSG mod you can vote on applications, ideas, etc. Also: I never forget the day somebody got mod and thank him always.

At the beginning I used to feel more like a GSG mod with another tag, but more and more I have felt like an owner… I am glad you made it possible.

The presence:



We have reached 500 members. Again. But nowadays it’s a lot harder, because there don’t play many people any more. Furthermore every single player is level 30+. It was a hard and long way.
I think it’s time for me to say thanks. As you should know now, the moderators are the ones who keep a clan alive, so I’d like to say thanks to them at the beginning.

@InfiniSTistus 11/24 You have been my first mod. After two month we finally got 500 members. Your strength in the beginning helped me a lot to keep going. You are active on the forums and always there in our conversation. Thanks <3

@Jaetpack1 12/12 Please stay here mate. You did a lot for GSG, especially ingame. Your hard work to keep GSG free of rule breakers makes it a better clan until today. No single clan has such a long blacklist. Moreover you supported our channel very much at the beginning and helped to spread out GSG is back. Thanks <3

@StarZManZ 01/21 You are the person with the best ideas in my group. Thank you very much for all the good suggestions, for creating a YouTube channel and even Ts3. You invest a lot of creativity in GSG. Thanks <3

@DyvingPenguins 01/25 I am not complete sure, but I think if I’d count the messages in our conversations you would be close to have the most. You are very active, and help me to decide things. You always have an idea what to do, a new fresh aspect. And you are awesome with the iso. I remember myself months ago, being gekt by your Iso… Thanks <3

@sjuka_legogubbar 02/11 It’s an honor to have you as a GSG mod. You show that GSG can also have very skilled members and defend us whenever you can. I have often some bad days, but if I play with you and we are joking around with each other I always have to smile. You make me have still fun in playing war. Thanks <3

@Corcustos 02/26 If you need somebody who should write a good text, you have found the right person. You have created our moderation format and whenever somebody asks “How to write a good app?” I copy yours. Your criticism is perfect, it makes it much easier to change things or to decide. Furthermore you are our most skilled American mod. Thanks <3

@Theo92160_ 03/15 You are one of our most active mods ingame. Nevertheless you never forget to check out the forums. You keep inviting fresh members and you are close to my tricks. Moreover I am always impressed how fast you can emp. Thanks <3

@PorkChops30 You haven’t been GSG mod for such, but I think you have integrate perfectly. You are a great example of loyalty and I am glad to have you as a mod. Furthermore you live in America and these mods very important. Thanks <3

I think it became clear. But if you need some more examples here some numbers:
Overall, with every conversation, the GSG staff has 85 pages full of comments with overall 1651 replies. We have been active for around 6 months: 6*30 = 180 days. 1651/180 = 9,17 replies every day. Now you know how busy we are.

The enemies:

Nevertheless: Every clan needs an enemy to fight against. Thanks to @Lekosa1 for creating Pr0. This clan had destroyed GSG when Daan owned it and I am glad we could fight against you.

@Cherrybae ‘s clans. No matter if we are talking about Famy or Dark, it gave us a goal.

The future:

But don’t leave yet! Of course GSG has also plans for the future. Until War 2.0 will come out, we will try to become the biggest clan, including such a clan like Wolf.

And of course we will try to dominate war 2.0 as well… Be better prepared…. :/

Nevertheless, now it’s time to celebrate. We have 500 members! ;D And don’t forget: Fight for GSG!
