This has happened to me multiple times and I'm not sure if its aloud because a couple of my team mates are saying sheriffs can do it. The sheriff (His name is like a bunch of random letters so I have no idea who it was) was online and so was my team. We were processing some wildgrass and we went on the rooftop. The sheriff came and I thought we would be okay because sheriffs can't attack you unless you attack them. But then the sheriff shot at me (We were processing drugs) and killed me. Me and my team went back to the wildgrass rebel base and got most of our stuff back. We got on the roof again while processing. The sheriff came back and one of my team mates shot at him. My other team mates weren't shooting at him and neither was I. The sheriff climbed up the ladder on the corner of the rebel base to get up then shot me and killed me. He also killed my other team mates even though they didn't shoot at him. Okay so what I'm asking is, "Is a sheriff aloud to shoot you to stop you from processing drugs?" There was no way for him to handcuff us because he wouldn't be able to reach us up there, so is he aloud to shoot as an alternative?

If you're caught doing illegal activity such as processing drugs a sheriff has every right to handcuff you and stop you from completing the processing. I personally thought Sheriff's couldn't shoot unless you attacked before hand or weren't cooperating. Keep in mind I could be wrong but yes they are allowed to stop you from processing drugs.

I was online in this situation. The sheriff was within the rules in this situation. @NeoGer shot at and killed @blackbear44. Once a sheriff has been killed, all players teaming or associated with that player are kill on sight for five minutes for all sheriffs. The five minute limit had not expired yet.

I just looked at handbook and it says that the sheriff "can" attack the team mates and the person who attacked them first.

The situation you are describing is one I have encountered. It is an allowed nuanced approach to the rules about attacking, which varies from sheriff to sheriff.

First of all, I am assuming that you are either in an illegal location, or you have held an illegal item, or you are Rogue, and now a sheriff is after you.

The rules on attacking: A sheriff may only attack a player after the player attacks or makes an aggressive move towards the sheriff. In all other cases, the Sheriff must attempt to handcuff first (they can shoot a fleeing horse, but not a fleeing player).

The rules on Roofs: A sheriff may ask you to get off the roof, and if you do not comply, they may shoot at you.

What often happens: Sheriffs will ride up, see you are on the roof, and expect you to come down to them. They will say something in chat sometimes, but not always. If you are looking at a sheriff instead of climbing down to meet them, they will assume you are not going to come quietly. If you flash a gun at them, they will often shoot. This is an accepted nuanced reading of the rules as far as I can tell, and it exists because of the rapidity of combat. If you insist on occupying the high ground against a sheriff who is trying to arrest you, they are entitled to shoot at you instead of exposing themselves to bullets as they parkour/ladder up to cuff you.

From what I understand, sheriffs are now allowed to kill Rogues on sight and his teammates. If a player has attacked another player or sheriff, they are declared KOS. They can't shoot you to prevent you processing, only handcuffing. Guessing someone was rogue though?

The sheriff can, and obviously he chose to.

I change the handbook and it wasn't changed recently.

I don't know what you mean with aggressive move, but Sheriffs are only allowed to attack if the player attacked a Sheriff or a Sheriff's horse recently.

Wrong, Sheriffs may not shoot just because players ignore their messages.

Again wrong, Sheriffs may only shoot at you after you or your team mate attacked him/her.

Wrong, you may still only shoot players if they attacked a Sheriff recently. Rogue is not a reason to kill on sight.

If you really didn't attack the Sheriff in the last 5 minutes, his action was against the Sheriff rules. Please send me a PM with all details you remember and proof if you have any.

If one team member shot at a Sheriff, the Sheriff can attack all nearby team members. So the Sheriff's actions in this situation were legal.

    Locked.
