One Dance - Drake (behind the lyrics)

"One dance" finds Drake sampling UK singer Kyla and teaming up with Nigerian pop star Wizkid for a dancehall infused jam.

"Grips on your waist

"Oti" means "no" in Yoruba - the official language of Wizkid's home country Nigeria. "OT" is short for "out of town". On Makonnen's "Tuesday", Drake sang, "Always working OT, overtime, and outta down".

The chorus is made by the voice of Kyla - her vocals are sampled the classic 2008 UK funky anthem "Do You Mind". In recent years, Kyla stepped away from the music scene to focus on raising a family. So when she heard Drake wanted to sample her, she thought it was an April's fool joke. Although Kyla is sampled, she's listed as a feature. She explained to Pitchfork why Drake's team was in a rush to release the song. Kyla: "They were very much like, 'Let's run with this version, there's no time for recording it or anything like that. We're getting hacked left, right and center'". Prior to the release of this song, another dancehall-styles Drake song, "Controlla" leaked online.

This song is produced by Drake's longtime producer 40 and Nineteen85. The press shy Nineteen85 has produced some of Drake's biggest hits including "Hold On, We're going Home," "O to 100" and "Hotline Bling".

This is the voice of Wizkid. Drake remixed his song "Ojuelegba" last year. Wizkid became the first Nigerian artist to make the Billboard Hot 100 when this song landed at No. 21. Wizkid might not be known in the US, but in his hometown of Lagos he can't walk stress without being mobbed by fans.

Kyla told Pitchfork: "They got my track, cut the bits out that they wanted, and just made a song out of it".

Drake is seemingly a big fan of Hennessy, on "HYRF" he rapped, "I learn Hennessy and enemies is one hell of a mixture".
