Right now, I feel as if the bounty system needs to be completely reworked so it isn't so penalizing, while also keeping the aspect of waiting before jumping into a fight again. Currently, if you rack up a 10k bounty doing things like robbing conductors, it becomes such a chore to mine your way out that most players would just quit. When I first joined the game as a bandit, I got a high bounty (15k+) and I got arrested. Mining your way out is extremely tedious, and the bail system only works in favor of established players (who are careful about their bounties anyways). For a good majority of players, they just quit because it becomes so boring. In fact, a couple of players told me this as a complaint, and I definitely agree with them. Here is what I think needs to be changed about the system:

    • Bounty cap: The bounty shouldn't be able to rise to infinity. I think around 5k is a fair limitor. Anything beyond that makes the process to mine out way to boring, and players will end up quitting from this. You still feel the same effects of not being able to jump back into combat, but you won't be punished so heavily.
    • Make bounty count down while offline (possibly only in jail?). At least players can do something else instead of being forced to run the game so that it goes down. There really isn't anything special or fun about having to be forced to leave the game on overnight.
    • Allow paying off only part of it with the money in your wallet. If someone has 1k in their wallet, and their bounty is 2k, they should be able to bring it down partially.
Hopefully, one or a combination of these ideas gets added so the game isn't so punishing to those who robbed 2 conductors. Let me know what you think about the current system and proposed system below!

I'd be fine with a 10k bounty cap as long as /bail was removed. Players should only be able to pay off their bounty when they are alive. /bail has always been super annoying. Back when I was a bandit, when I would kill people on OP team, they would just be bailed and come right back to attack me again. It's basically the annoying player version of sheriffs coming back non-stop. Some people need to be put out of action for a little while for others to reap the reward of killing them. With this new cap, bounty should be harder to get and the reward from heads should be significantly buffed. Additionally, something should happen when a player hits max bounty. Maybe they would get certain buffs such as increased processing speed or faster reload. They would also be arrest on sight for sheriffs however.

I would say 10k, as its easier to get out of jail now. Also, my bounty was 76k when I got caught, and I mined out. Otherwise, I totally agree.

/bail definitely plays in favor of more experienced players. I wouldn't mind it being tweaked to something like 2 gold/bounty, or just be removed. I definitely agree with a prison system putting players out of action, however, it puts mediocre players out of action for way too long to the point where they get bored, and experienced players not long enough. I agree with the remaining points, definitely good ideas to consider.

Any reasonable number works, just as long as it gets capped.

The jail should also be made far more interesting. If people are going to spend any long amount of time there, there should be miscellaneous tasks other than rock smashing. There should be opportunities for prison breaks, riots, pvp, etc.

Definitely! I'd love to see some sort of prison escape system, and maybe even a bit of PvP.

Bounty cap to 7k, which makes them KOS for sheriffs?

    Maybe just arrest on sight.

    KOS on sight, please no.
    That would be a disaster.
Arrest on sight is pretty good I think.

All of this "The game is too hard!" nonsense in every area of Wild West is getting quite annoying. People complaining all the time about everything being too hard are going to ruin the game by making it even easier than it is. Your emotional arguments are silly. Get better, don't ask for an easier game.

    With that being said:

Mining off bounty doesn't take that much time. It especially doesn't take that much time if you have a rank above member. Mining is meant to be somewhat tedious, for you did illegal activities to gain you this bounty. A bounty cap is stupid, for it does not parallel the amount of illegal activities you can do. If you can commit an infinite number of crimes (let's say, farm 2000 tons of cocaine), the amount of bounty needs to be unlimited to match that.

If there were a bounty cap, I'd get to the cap and then not be hesitant to attack people because all it would mean is going rogue for a couple of minutes. No bounty would be gained.

The ability to reduce your bounty with money in your wallet is a good idea. You should also be able to pay to reduce your bounty in towns (without being arrested). It shouldn't be cheap, however.

Having your bounty go down while offline gets rid of much of the "punishment" of having to mine off your bounty in prison. It would also place unnecessary strain on the server (I'm guessing) because it would need to keep tabs on literally every player's bounty, both online and off.

    Edit:

What is the point of going to prison if you can just break out? lol.

Having PvP in prison is unnecessary. The vast majority of the actual Wild West map is PvP-enabled. Prison PvP also would be pointless, for you wouldn't gain anything. Pointless PvP can be found in the Brawl lobby.

Doges, reading the beginning I was like "man, you need to play Wild West more often and not as sheriff". When I began playing after the reset, I made like 81k bounty robbing the conductors, iMacro arrested me as the hero we never want and I spent hours mining... and I had no bounty drop boost! It is such a part of gameplay.

Only robbing conductors gives that much bounty. Guns are bugged and we get bounty only if we shoot for the first time but not for the next shots or the kill. People using sabers don't have as much luck. You need to fix the guns. We don't complain that we have too much bounty, we complain that others have too little.

If there was going to be a bounty cap, and if your bounty is at the capped level then your arrest on sight, it would need to be arrest on sight if your within 100 of the capped bounty - since bounty decreases 1 every 5 seconds you would go off the capped limit 5 seconds after reaching it.

I like the idea of bounty decreasing while offline, not too much of a fan of prison breaks though.

Leaving the computer on just to play Wild West is a waste of electricity and money, so I agree with this idea.

I don't want a limit on the bounty. I want more ore in prison and the ore to count for more than 5 for a piece of coal.
