Proof of the much disputed damage that sheriff guns do to players. (Recorded 8/31/16)
Props to MrMonkeyman900 for agreeing to rec this with me and then even send me the video. All credit goes to him.

Notes: At 4:00, I accidentally have some of the bullets from the Coach Gun hit him in the head the second time I test it. You can tell from the sound the bullets make when it hits him. I get a proper full bodyshot the third time around.

    Base Gun Damages:
This probably won't stay this way seeing as the guns do way too little damage to full D and way too much to sheriffs, but I'll list them anyways for you to see. We just did some testing today, and here are the results.

    Repeater:
Body shot to full D - 2 hearts
    Headshot to full D - 4 hearts

    Coach Gun:

    Base Gun Damages
    Video:
    See here.

    Misc Information:
Diamond Armor reduces 80% of all damage.
Sheriff Armor (prot I iron) reduces 64.8% of all damage on average. Can range from 63.2-66.4%
Kevlar (prot III iron) reduces 74.4% of all damage on average. Can range from 69.6-79.2%
Due to the way that minecraft calculates damage reduction from enhancements, the damage dealt can vary.

    More Misc Information:
Prot II Iron reduces 69.6% of all damage on average. Can range from 66.4-72.8%
Prot IV Iron reduces 84% of all damage on average. Can range from 76%-92%.

    Calculating Damage:
Base damage describes the amount of half hearts a weapon does. You have a total of 20 half hearts in minecraft. Taking 20 damage is the same as taking 10 hearts of damage. Of course, there is the issue of armor which is where things get a little more complicated. First off, wildwest uses pre-1.9 armor reduction calculations. This is very important as they way armor works changed drastically in 1.9. Here is the 1.8 and below formula:

Base Damage x Percent Reduced = Damage Reduced in Half Hearts
Base Damage - Damage Reduced = Damage in Half Hearts
Damage in Half Hearts/2 = Damage in Minecraft Hearts (Since there are twice as many half hearts as there are normal hearts, this is necessary.)
Damage in Minecraft Hears x 2 = Headshot Damage in Minecraft Hearts

Here's an example calculation of how much the repeater does to full D.

    Repeater base damage = 29
    Full D Percent Reduced = 80%
    29 base damage x 80% reduced (.80) = 23.2 damage reduced in half hearts
29 base damage - 23.3 damage reduced in half hearts = 5.8 damage in half hearts
5.8 damage in half hearts / 2 = 2.9 damage in minecraft hearts
2.9 damage in minecraft hearts x 2 = 5.8 headshot damage in minecraft hearts

Math without descriptions (for less messiness):
    29 x .80 = 23.2
    29 - 23.3 = 5.8
    5.8/2 = 2.9
    2.9 x 2 = 5.8

Calculating damage done to enchanted armor is way more complicated, and I'm too lazy to post a walkthrough on how to do that at the moment. I might get around to it sometime.

Notes that are meaningless to you and don't have to do with how minecraft normally calculates damage, but important for me to have here for my own personal reference:
If you aren't Random, you're wasting your time.
    17 armor points = x 1.12500
    18 armor points = x 1.28571429
    19 armor points = x 1.5
    20 armor points = x 1.8

Yeah, currently the fights between full d's and sheriffs mostly end up with the sheriffs losing...

And people say sheriffs are op.... :stuck_out_tongue:
    In b4 rant

In all honesty though, it looks pretty evened out. Sheriff guns don't 1 shot and neither do full d guns. The reason full d guns do more damage is that the sheriffs can come back and still have their armor while the full d cannot. Thanks for showing this!

Evened out? Are you kidding me? A sheriff has to shoot 6 times to kill a full d. A full d only has to shoot twice and the sheriff is dead. I speak out of experience from today.

According to this, repeater only has to hit 3 times. Assuming that you atleast hit 2 head shots. Pistol and shotgun are a different story.

I should've asked team VK yesterday, how many hearts I was chipping away. They didn't say, "hmm, are your guns UP now?", They were saying, "Get rekt!". Obviously basking in the fact that sheriffs are now UP.

According to this, that information is false. I only do 2 hearts of damage when I headshot full d's which makes it impossible for me to kill them. The only way to stop full d's is handcuffs, but that's practically impossible if they're on a speed horse.

Yeah, you would have to headshot a full diamond player 5 times, which is really hard to do. The sheriff would get killed first. (7/8/2016 10:01 PM)

@Verlyn's been telling me that the Carcano does more damage than the Repeater. If so, then that means it does more damage than the T-Gewehr as well.
The Carcano, cheap, legal, and more powerful than any other gun in the game. Things are really unbalanced in this game right now. (7/12/2016 9:52 AM)

Update 7/11/16: Nothing's changed, but here is a video showing a damage test that took place on the date mentioned.

The thread is back with a load more information. Seeing as there is still a lot of confusion about gun damages, I added some more information. If anyone still has any questions about damages, please ask me here. Use this thread to help inform any arguments you want to bring up. These values and damages are the correct ones as shown by both the math and the video provided.

    Update 8/31/16
    Added:
    New sheriff gun damages.

More precise illegal gun to sheriff damages (before they were based on the minecraft display in-game. The math is more accurate seeing as damage to enchanted armor varies.)

    DPS for the shotguns

An updated video to back up the values for the sheriff guns to full D.

An entire walkthrough on how to calculate armor damage reduction to illustrate where I get the values.
