    They're a good idea.
But then hackers can hide their name tags.

How do we get past this?
Easy. I don't even have to write a long thread for this.

Keep their nametags hidden, but implement a command:
    /nametag [radius]

A clean /nametag will give you the names of everyone that is "camouflaged" (has their nametag hidden).
If there is more than one, it will list everyone.
But how do you know which is which?
Radius. Just get close to them, and define a radius of how close they are to you.

I don't know if this can be coded, but hey.
    It's a start.

Just make a command called "nametag".
Gives you the name of the player you're looking at.

    I bring my argument here.

    [8:11:43 AM] GreySwordz: easier method
    [8:11:49 AM] GreySwordz: do /nametag
[8:11:57 AM] GreySwordz: gets the nametag of the entity you're looking at
    [8:11:58 AM] GreySwordz: BISH
[8:12:02 AM] GreySwordz: thought of that weeks before you
[8:12:09 AM] Steven L.: i didnt know if you could
[8:12:14 AM] Steven L.: see which entity you're looking at
    [8:12:15 AM] Steven L.: so
    [8:12:16 AM] Steven L.: yeah
[8:12:23 AM] Steven L.: cuz i dont know how MC coding works
    [8:12:23 AM] Steven L.: derp
[8:12:26 AM] GreySwordz: You just follow the blocks which they're looking at
[8:12:31 AM] GreySwordz: and see if there's an entity in the block
[8:12:41 AM] Steven L.: bish i dont know if you can do that >:l
    [8:12:48 AM] GreySwordz:
[8:12:59 AM] Steven L.: i would rather make a safe suggestion that WILL work rather than one that MIGHT be able to be coded and might not
    [8:13:09 AM] Steven L.: nub.
[8:13:15 AM] Steven L.: and what if the target moves?
    [8:13:17 AM] Steven L.: C:
[8:13:31 AM] GreySwordz: You do the command again
    [8:13:34 AM] GreySwordz: :V
[8:14:58 AM] Steven L.: wut if he constantly moves
    [8:14:59 AM] Steven L.: qq
[8:15:16 AM] Steven L.: inexact radius would still be helpful
    [8:15:17 AM] Steven L.: bish.

    wow.... it still not proof.
If a zombie is random camouflaged you would get 2 names.

This would not solve the problem because the players out of the map will probably have a kind of big radius and then the people who are camouflaged from far away can be seen still. Also about the thing with give the name if you are looking directly at them I think is possible because of the new item in 1.6 that are called name tags that you can put on mobs. But you can just look at them from far away still if you just look at them.

Wait why is there even a thread about this if it hasn't been implemented yet?

Would the command be available to use by everyone?
