I'll start by saying I'm a huge fan of the TV show The Walking Dead.

The differences between the show and the comic are quite significant.

For one, there is no Darrel!
    - He's like one of my favorites on the show.

Also Carol isn't the tough woman like on the show and Carl isn't the reserved adult behaving kid like on the show either.

Hershel didn't lose his leg as in the show either and Dale is still alive and he's the one who lost the leg.

Rick is taking a terrible beating in the comic. He's now lost a hand, thanks to the Governor, and he's gut shot in this book too. He's a tough cookie.

I like Lori the least in both the show and the comic and she finally dies in this book. However, it's not during childbirth, she's shot and when she falls she smashes the newborn Judith.

Sophia is also still alive. Dale and Andrea are in a relationship, she hasn't defected to Woodbury.

Michonne is very different from the show as well. Things are done to her by the governor that are just evil. She gets her revenge on the Governor but I was disappointed she didn't kill him.

Woodbury attacks the prison, like the show, and this is when Lori dies.

Also Michonne and Tyreese are taken captive. In the show it's Hershel who gets his head cut off by the governor; in the comic it's Tyreese.

And the governor has a very disturbing relationship with his daughter.

There are many differences from the show but it's still a very enjoyable story and read. If you like the Walking Dead TV series, you must read the books too.
