THE PROFESSIONALS

My day started out like any other in the mountain town of Vail, Colorado.

I woke up, did my cross fit workout, cardio, and ultimate fighting training before 7 am, ate some eggs for protein, and showered.

Some might say I have the perfect life. I married a super model super hero soulmate.

I might have forgotten to mention an important fact. “I used to go by the name MR_EVIL_OVERLORD" and I was "The Super Villain.”

Extinction of the human race was conceived in a lab….

Sinister had been working on a formula for immortality for a client. The Avengers, Fantastic 4, Justice League, and X-men had been staking out his lab for weeks. During a key test, the super heroes raided his lap.

The test subject had been infected with the retrovirus.

During the battle patient zero was released from his containment cell. He infected the Flash who then infected everyone in the lap. Within seconds the entire site had been infected with the retrovirus.

Within hours the entire city was infected. The zombie heroes became unstoppable plagues infecting everyone in their path.

The genius of the formula was immortality but what had been developed was virus that attacked the immune system, changed the body, and brought the dead back to life with cannibalistic hunger.

As you can imagine, the world panicked. How do you stop dead heroes and zombies?

Life has a strange way of working out.

As I sit here in the back of the C-130, inspecting my armor I realize that I am humanity’s last hope. My armor is covered with a dull black carbon plating and practically indestructible.

My cape is black with a white Jolly Roger "skull and crossbones".

I used to strike fear into the hearts of heroes.

I look down at the USA flag painted on armor and it reminds me what is at stake.

Did I mention that I brought my team of Super Villains out of retirement to save the world?

The US government has equipped us with enough firepower to level a city…did I mention they gave us a nuke?

A few weeks ago we were retired Super Villains living the good life.

That was before the Zombie virus infected the heroes. The CDC was powerless to stop the infection.

Logistics, population density, and viral survival insured the virus spread in the larger metropolitan cities.

Within hours society broke down.

EMERGENCY BROADCAST

The President of the United States issued an emergency broadcast calling for all heroes to help in the emergency.

Many of the heroes died trying to save humanity. Heroes are typically trained to capture and restrain, not kill.

24 hours later a slightly different emergency message came out asking for assistance from all super powered beings…

Madam President, I would like to introduce you to the EVIL OVERLORD.

I met the President at NORAD to talk about the mission. I had a steak for dinner. She had prepared her whole life for the role and she knew what had to be done.

The President of the United States asked me to do what we do best and that is kill people.

Today we are humanity’s last hope.
