Hype, we 'hype' something we think it'll be good but our expectations become mixed up when the final result is made. In the end, the end result might not be as pleasing because of hyping up something only for it to be less entertaining. Why is this?

War 2.0 for example, people have been waiting for it for so long. There kept being news about War 2.0 being in the works but only to be stopped again and again. The hype continued to die out, expectations were set extremely low as community members' thought about the existence of a newly coded server that is good were torn apart. Now that it is actually confirmed. But why should we hype it all up? If we hype something to the point where we think it's amazing and will fit our exact needs, disappointment awaits you then. War 2.0 might be truly amazing or negative. Depending on how you view the game.

What I'm trying to say is, don't over-hype something and setting high expectations for something, usually you'll think 'oh this is good' but when the VERY CERTAIN situation happens 'oh, it's not as fun or entertaining to play as I thought it would be'.

Too long to read this damn thing or want quick explanations? Over hype = SITUATIONAL disappointment.
There is quite a few bad points in this and needs more proper explanation.

I think over-hype is a bad thing. Because even though what you're hyped about is awesome, over hyping it won't make it as magical as if you didn't hype it at all.

I'm yet to see something to get me excited for a game mode that I have been waiting for 3 years.

This pretty much sums it all up.
I'd rather have hype and be disappointed rather than not giving a ****.

Always have really low expectations. At least then, you'll never be disappointed. Most things are over-hyped, and as a result the final product seems disappointing. A perfect example of this would be No Man's Sky, from what I've heard it was a relatively decent game, but was nothing compared to how hyped up it was.
