    Warriors: The Lost Warrior

Summary: It has been many moons since Firestar died to save ThunderClan from the paws of the Dark Forest warriors. During that time prosperity and a new sense of kinship arose among the clans and peace flourished. But sooner or later all good things come to an end. Follow a rouge named Gray as he searches for the truth amid a time where the only friend he has is himself and danger lurks all around.

    Chapter 2
    "Rosepelt... Rosepelt..."

"Hey! Wake up you lazy furball!" a voice meowed rudely. Gray felt a sharp jab of unsheathed claws in his side causing him to raise a paw in defense. Bad choice. This seemed to provoke his visitor further as he felt another paw cuff him across his head. That hurt, Gray thought sleepily.

"Wake upppp!" the voice whined, somewhat angrily now. Gray growled in annoyance at this as he rolled over and sat up, facing the other the cat. He blinked in surprise, it was a little gray she-cat, hardly one third his size. She's tiny! he thought.

Gray bared his teeth and fluffed his fur, "What do you want?" he snarled. The she cat's eyes widened to the size of moons as she yelped and scurried backwards. Apparently, she too had been taken aback by his bulk. "Hmph." Gray said, flattening his fur, "Not so brave now, are you?" he taunted.

The she cat stared at him but said nothing. Huh. Is she that scared of me? Gray almost purred in amusement at it all, as she should be. Irritating little... "What do you want?" he repeated his question, more gently than before.

    "N-n-nothing." the she-cat mewed innocently.

"Really?" Gray said, narrowing his eyes. This cat seemed to be a bit too familiar with him. Yet, he had never seen her before. He certainly didn't remember her. "Then why were you poking me so much?" he flicked his fail to his right flank, which was very sore from all the prodding, "Not to mention that your claws were unsheathed. That hurt you know."

His visitor bowed her head in embarrassment, "I- I thought- "

But before she had a chance to explain herself Gray interrupted her. He had been so immersed in dealing with this cat that he hadn't bothered to examine his surroundings. "And what am I doing here?" he said, as he opened his jaws, scenting the air. "This place smells of Twoleg!" After all he had been through, the bland, somewhat dirty scent of the huge, hairless creatures with the strange pelts was forever ingrained in his mind and this place smelled strongly of it. Was he really where he thought he was?

Gray glanced around and saw clear colored boxes overlooking a lush green forest while the walls surrounding the boxes were covered in a odd smelling white plaster like the ceiling above him. Along the walls were more boxes of various sizes with unfamiliar Twoleg faces staring back at him, and on the ceiling he spotted a spinning contraption that seemed to resemble a quashed spider. A great beam of light emitted from the center of it. The surface beneath his paws was not natural either, it was hard, slippery, and a gray-black color. Gray tapped his good paw on it and hit the floor with a metallic ting! sound. There was no grass, no sun, no dirt, no trees, and no scent of anything but Twoleg and the she cat. Yes he was where he was where he thought. I'm trapped in a Twoleg nest. After all this I can't believe it... Gray thought, anger building up in his gut at the humiliation. He had let himself get caught in a Twoleg nest and now he'd be stuck as a kittypet forever. How could it have happened? Rosepelt, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

"Where's your collar?" Gray said, turning his attention back to the she cat.

"I, uh, I don't have one." the she cat mewed.

    "You don't have one?"

"No. I've never had one." she replied, much calmer than before.

"But you're a kittypet!" Gray exclaimed, "I know kittypets and all kittypets have collars!"

"I'm not a kittypet!" the she cat replied defiantly.

    "Yeah right."

"I'm not! I'm a warrior!" she said, puffing out her small chest in pride.

Gray narrowed his eyes at this. The last cat to tell him that had been burned to death in a forest fire many moons ago. And that cat had been a real warrior. Now this pint sized kittypet was telling him she was one as well? That couldn't be. "Oh really?" he replied, seething with anger, "Do you live in this Twoleg nest?"

"Yep!" the she cat beamed, twitching her tail happily. She likes living here? Gray thought in disbelief.

"Do you eat cat food from a bowl that your Twolegs put out for you?"

    "I do."

"And you call yourself a warrior?" Gray snorted. Was this cat completely mouse brained? Probably heard tales of the Warriors from a loner or something he thought. Still, he had to check. But even as this thought crossed his mind a tired feeling flooded his body. He didn't know why he even bothered. But... he paused, why did he care? He was stuck in a Twoleg nest, he had no idea where, and he was wasting time planning his escape talking to this kittypet? Gray sighed in anguish, no he knew why any of this mattered. The nostalgia was too much for him. Something, searching something he had been trying to find for so long... he missed the feeling. He missed his life. And he couldn't even remember it! "What's your name?" he asked.

"Featherpaw." the she cat said, "I'm Featherpaw."

Gray stared at her, his mouth opening slightly but no words would come. He couldn't believe it. Featherpaw? The images flooded back into his mind at once. Her dangling from the edge of a cliff as Sharptooth bared down on the mountain cats, and watching her as she fell into the abyss with the lion along with the dull tumble of stone. No! That couldn't be her. That couldn't be this Featherpaw. The other one, she was in Star Clan! Gray blinked in disbelief, even if it wasn't her, how many kittypets called themselves Featherpaw? That was an apprentice's name after all and there was no way she got that name from her Twolegs.

"I knew you'd be surprised to see me Graystar." Featherpaw purred.

Gray whirled around eyes wide, Graystar?!

    "No!" he yowled.
