Chapter 2
A Mid-Day Quarrel​

The sun was getting high when they departed from camp. They all had a bad gut feeling that there was more to it than just the capture of 18. random had said, and everyone else agreed, that he hadn't seen the other 2 sheriffs for a long time.

They left camp a little past 10:00AM. They all rode swiftly until they reached the base. The base was a wooden structure, about 100 by 100 feet. It was surrounded by walls, each about 20 feet high. Each corner had a tower, and a door into that tower. There was a main entrance on the south facing side. The inside was open, but a few buildings lined the walls. One of the buildings, that faced the north side, is where the druglords were doing their processing. Dark sat down and made some plans.

"So, I'm betting they are all in the processing building, but watching the doors, and looking out the windows. If they see any movement they all converge on that, except for a few, who wait there, in case that is a diversion. We simply need to split up into pairs. There's six of us, so we can pair off. Three sets of two."

Verlyn spoke up, "We need to make two diversions. The processor is at the northern part of the base, and there is a tower on either side. One team will go in through the West tower, and one through the main entrance. After we engage them, we have to act quickly. They might kill 18 right on the spot. We need to get in there, grab 18, and get out as fast as possible."

Charlotte said, "I'll go with Gehenna, Dark you go with Verlyn, and Galaxy you go with random. random's team and Verlyn's team will be the distractions, and Gehenna and I will go in as stealth as we can. If we die, you guys gotta get out of here as fast as you can. They will follow you if you engage them."

Before they all went to there respective starting points, Gehenna said, "Now guys, try not to die. I mean this isn't some Call of Duty game that you have unlimited respawns. This is real, we have to act quickly, but safely." They nodded, and headed out.

From outside of the base, you can see the top of the processing building. When they came up to the base, they saw four figures, faintly in the distance on the processing building. They acted with precaution, but when they came closer, they realized that the people on top of the building were not bandits. They were Sheriffs, gagged, and tied to posts. Galaxy said, "Wait! Look! The rope tying them to the post is connected to a grenade. If we untie them, the grenade will blow."

"That's not good. Who is that though? 18, and who else?" Gehenna said.

Dark peered into the distance. "I haven't heard from the three remaining sheriffs that watch the other three towns for a couple weeks. I'm betting it's them."

They walked up to their respective starting positions. Charlotte and Gehenna signaled that they were going in in 30 seconds. As the 30 seconds were going down, they heard shouts and screams from the southern side. That was Dark and Veryln. They had been captured! Dark managed to get out a few words before going behind the walls, "GO, THERE'S TOO MANY OF THEM!"

Charlotte and Gehenna hopped on their horses and ran away as fast as they could. After they were quite a ways away from the building, they heard more shouts. They suspected that Galaxy and random had been captured as well. "There's gotta be some other motive for them to be taking them captive, and not killing them," said Charlotte. "Yeah. We have to get more people. I heard about nine more recruits that are coming in. We can go see if they can help us."

They headed towards the nearest town, as the sun was setting on the horizon.
