    I've seen two (edit: three, once on this thread) people in the past two days that publicly posted their Skype somewhere on the forums.
    The title explains it all. Don't do that.

    DDoS, DoX, DoS, etc. all stem from getting your IP, and they're not very hard to do once you've got the IP.
    I don't know if DDoS has left the public eye recently or anything, but it should be obvious to everyone that posting private information publicly can lead to bad things. Just google "what can someone do with my IP address" and you'll find lots of ways to leak and steal private files and information from only your IP address, and possibly the most common way to do that is through Skype.

    Plus, for any other website that uses usernames, chances are your username is the same or very similar, and it's easy to tell if you're the same person. These ways work even if they don't have your IP.

    In conclusion, don't be dumb. Don't give out your Skype, don't give out your personal information.

    This goes without saying unless you're giving your Skype or some personal info (i.e. real name, where you live) to someone you know and trust. There's always a risk of being victimized by a predator (this is a real personality type - and the most dangerous) but being picky with whom you choose to socialize can greatly minimize it. Skype is one thing (and posting it isn't such a big deal if you don't 'friend' people when you have no idea who they are and cannot verify their identity). Deliberately giving out personal information is another. I would not share personal info. with anyone that I had not known intimately for a long time and, with one exception, I haven't.

    If anyone sees a post with someone's skype or other information on it, please report it. It gives staff a notification to remove it.

    People still see it, though. Deleting it is good, but doesn't solve the problem entirely. People will have seen it before it's deleted. A good example of this is when I reported one of the posts and replied to his with a snarky, sarcastic reply explaining why it was dumb to post his Skype in the thread. he reported my post, it got deleted, and his Skype wasn't removed.

    and I am fine with posting that because I am not stupid enough to click anything strangers send, pick up strangers calls, or keep personal info on my skype :smile:

    It doesn't take a skilled hacker to find IPs and such out, just using the Skype name.
