Server Amount Adjustments

Lobby, CTF, KitBrawl, and Build moved boxes (means nothing to the normal player)

We will boot up more servers for each gamemode if and when needed.

We use to have 14 game server boxes (at $110 a month per) and after these changes we will have 5 game server boxes (at $80 a month per). These changes should make the servers more populated per while saving money for investment into further developing and upkeeping Brawl.

New Protocol: Continuous Rule Violations

Recently we got frequent reports from Junior Moderators about players who keep on breaking minor chat rules and don't change their behaviour even though they sometimes have dozens of punishments. A system with constantly increasing punishments is hard to implement because of alternate accounts and punishments given by different staff members, so we decided to invent a punishment limit. This new protocol was enforced too quickly which was my fault for not thinking it through beforehand, but now have discussed the protocol again and we believe we covered any issues occuring with it.

The protocol for Continuous Rule Violations is as follows:
If a player has a total of 40 or more punishments (kicks, mutes, bans) within the last 8 months, no matter for which rule violation, they will be banned permanently upon the next rule violation. False, requested and duplicate punishments, punishments which were lifted because of a purchase, automatic bans and CTF match kicks do not count.

We reserve the right to ban permanently for a lower amount of rule violations if the rule violations were more severe (threats, major chat offenses).

Further details and clarifications:

If a player was banned for Continuous Rule Violations before and either purchased an unban or appealed the ban, they may be banned again after only 10 more rule violations of any kind.

Bans for Continuous Rule Violations will not be lifted within less than 3 months unless they are false.

Punishments across alternate accounts do not add up (Bans for Continuous Rule Violations still count towards the total of 3 bans across accounts).

This new protocol will come into effect in two weeks, on October 20th 2016.

This means anyone who has 40 or more punishments and violates the rules again once the protocol is in effect will be banned.

We hope this protocol will help to get rid of notorious rule breakers, make the community a better place and the job of our staff members easier.

Removal of Grappling Hooks on 10/29

Updates from the CTF Committee

Hey CTFers! Today we’re bringing you an update on CTF and where it currently stands. From the committee’s perspective, we will run over any changes within the game and any updates we have planned for the near future. We hope to make these updates fairly regular depending on how much we have to report on, most likely every couple of months. These threads are a chance for us to give the community insight into the future plans for CTF and keep you informed, so feel free to suggest any alterations to these threads. CTF's Stance on a Coder
Recently CTF lost its only full-time coder when Nom resigned. Due to this, the major coding updates that we have planned for a while will most likely not arrive in a timely manner, although some minor fixes are still possible. Until we have this issue resolved, we cannot expect any noticeable alterations within the game.
We are riddled with misfortune upon witnessing the loss of CTF’s beloved coder, however we hope he enjoys the freedom now that he has finally been released from Chap’s coder basement.

Wave XII
The new map wave is around the corner, giving us a chance to try out something new with our map voting system. Check out this thread and this more recent thread if you haven’t already. After collecting all submitted maps and removing those deemed unfit for gameplay, we began to configure them for ingame community testing. Once the configurations are all set up and ready to go, we will have a set few dates where you can test out the new maps yourself; more information concerning when exactly you can test the maps will come soon. Remember to vote via /y or /n as every vote will count towards whether the map will be added to the next wave!

Halloween Map Wave
October is rolling around again and with October comes Halloween maps! We have some Halloween maps from previous years, although we’d love to see some new ones in the rotation. However, due to both the minimal time frame and the fact that we have seasonal configs from previous years, we will not be accepting as many this time around. The approximate cutoff date for these maps will be the 21st of October, giving roughly 3 weeks to either create a new map or reskin a map in rotation. Once the maps are sorted out, the rotation of Halloween maps will last around 2 weeks total. Completed a map? Submit it here.

Gameplay Changes
It has been some time since the last tweak update and we are due for another! Once our coder situation has been resolved, there are some changes to look forward to revolving around the (highly anticipated) tweaks, such as 1-click frenzy, a longer fire resistance potion duration, and other small class alterations. Additionally, there are some bigger changes including class reworks, most notably the necro rework.

Events
Although no set events have been organised, they are under planning and we hope to introduce some fairly soon. In the meantime, remember to check out community-run events such as the Halloween event run by @xAsh, @Lugia_, and @kevshadowslayer. Take a look at the thread here. In addition to this, we are looking into the system for the next CTF Team Tournament. We’d love to hear your feedback from the last tournament and any suggestions for future tournaments - we keep track of suggestion threads!

That’s everything for our first State of the Game thread. As mentioned previously, feel free to suggest any changes you’d like to see with these threads or if there’s anything else you’d like us to go over.

This report gives you information about Build's state.

UPDATES
Some of you may of wonder why there hasn't been an update for Build in quite a while. The reason? We are currently lacking in developers and since NomNuggetNom left us there is no coder that is familiar with Build's code, thus making it hard for current coders to implement things straight away without having to learn the code first. Not to mention they are busy with other projects too, I'm afraid.

The latest update on Build was on the 11th of August: https://www.brawl.com/threads/60116/ - we hope that you are pleased with the new features that were implemented in that update.

I currently have a list of updates that I want, and will work for, to implement - including a /download command so that you can download your map. I appreciate all the ideas submitted in the Ideas section. I read and evaluate whether they would be a good addition or not. I'm sorry for not always responding, but I will get better at it!

EVENTS
I deeply hope that you have enjoyed the previous Build competitions that were hosted on Build. We made both a plot and a world based competition. We are sorry that Build crashed many times during the last Build competition.
I'm also currently looking into ways of hosting other types of events/competitions that are not plot/world based build competitions.

NEW PROTOCOL
We are all aware of the current and previous, rather toxic, incidents that have occured on Build. I work hard to tackle down on the involved toxic players. I would also like to remind everyone that the new protocol for Continuous Rule Violations was enforced on the 20th. Players with 40+ offences within the latest 8 months which continues to break rules afters the 20th are at risk of getting banned. You have the possibility to buy an unban. Be aware that if you break the rules 10 more times after the unban, you will be banned again.

New Protocol: Continuous Rule Violations
Recently it had been made known to us that there were some players who had accumulated an excessive amount of rule violations in a short amount of time. These players were made aware of our rules on our forums, teamspeak, and also in-game multiple times without changing their behavior accordingly. To help combat the rule breakers making other Brawlers' experiences bad and to help assist the staff team in punishing these players, a new protocol was put into place. Beginning on October 20th, any player that accumulates 40+ kicks, bans, and mutes within a span of 8 months will be permanently banned on their next offense. Some FAQs are shown below.

If I'm banned due to this new protocol, can I still appeal? - Yes. You may appeal your ban here, but keep in mind that we will not unban you before 3 months unless the ban for continuous rule violations was false.
Why did you add this new protocol? - This protocol was added in an attempt to create a better experience for Brawl players, as well as weeding out those that cannot control their misbehavior.
If my ban gets appealed/I buy an unban, how many punishments do I need before I am rebanned? - If you were recently banned for continuous rule violations and your ban was either successfully appealed or you bought an unban, you will be rebanned if you accumulate 10+ rule violations in 8 months.

Soulless looked up the moment he heard the helicopter. In an instant he was alert, AR-15 rifle yanked snugly against his shoulder, aimed at the sky. His heart was pounding.
The sound of the helo was growing louder. His inter-squad comm system crackled in his ear, and Dark spoke up. “I have one unidentified MI-24 Hind entering our airspace. Distance, 600 yards."
“Copy." Soulless responded. “Evil, get a Stinger out here."
“With pleasure." Evil replied.
Soulless kept scanning the skies, searching for the Hind. He couldn't see it yet, but he could hear it. He felt horribly exposed in the small clearing on the side of the mountain.
Evil scrambled up the side of the small hill next to Soulless, Stinger launcher held on his shoulder with one hand. He dropped to one knee and powered up the launcher's systems, then he turned his eyes up to the sky, searching for the Hind.
“300 yards." Dark informed.
The helo was loud now. Soulless could hear the engine chugging away.
“150." Dark relayed.
The leaves on the trees were beginning to shake furiously.
“100. 50. It's right on top of us."
“We have a visual." Soulless confirmed.
The Hind was hovering up and above where Evil and Soulless were. It was equipped with a forward chain gun, and a minigun mounted on the right side, manned by a soldier in full body armor.
Evil raised the Stinger and took a sight picture, but Soulless muttered, “Wait."
The Hind hovered over its spot, and Evil took a target lock, but left the safety engaged. The gunner on the side was scanning. Soulless held his AR-15 steady, holographic sight set on the gunner, hand wrapped around the foregrip. His knuckles were white.
The gunner on the Hind turned his head and said something to its pilot, and the Hind spun and lurched in a new direction.
Soulless released his pent up breath and lowered his AR. Evil slid the Stinger launcher onto his back in a sling clipped to the weapon, then drew his Desert Eagle from an underarm holster. “That was a close one."
“You can say that again." Soulless chuckled, letting his AR-15 slide out of his hands and hang across his chest in its sling. “Let's get down to Dark."
Evil turned and slid down the side of the small hill, and Soulless followed him down. Their slide ended near an opening into a large cave. They turned and strode into the engulfing darkness.
The darkness continued for a few minutes, then some bronze light began to shine around a bend in the cave. Evil rounded the corner first, and holstered his Desert Eagle under his left arm. Soulless kept one hand on the pistol grip of his AR.
Dark sitting in front of a laptop hooked up to a portable databank which contained all of the data they would need for their mission. A laptop was connected to it, and Dark was going through some data bases.
Evil motioned for Dark to move, and the two swapped spots. Evil began tapping away at the keyboard, and a serial number popped up. Soulless recognized it as the one on the side of the Hind that had appeared. The number flew to one side of the screen, and numbers began popping up on the page.
Evil leaned back in the chair and relaxed. “Just searching the databases to find out who owns that Hind." he explained.
Soulless set both his hands on top of the butt stock of his rifle and watched the screen with a blank expression. Then, unslinging his AR and setting it against the cave wall, he turned and began going through a weapons crate, one of many around the cave. The team had been given a lot of resources for an extended S&D mission. Soulless stuck a couple of pistol magazines into his digital camouflage Kevlar vest, and then pulled his Glock 17 out of its holster, dropping the magazine into his hand, checking that it was fully loaded. Sliding the magazine back into the mag well and replacing the handgun in its thigh holster on his right side, Soulless rummaged through the crate some more, but didn't find what he was looking for. Then, the computer console beeped, and Soulless turned to view the results.
Evil raised his eyebrow suspiciously in that cool yet calm way of his and leaned forward to type commands into the computer. He then leaned back and cocked his head, eyes analyzing the results.
“Well, it appears our good friend from above belongs to a private military corporation." Evil said. “Thing is, the chopper was reported shot down three weeks ago."
“Interesting." Dark said. “And we don't like interesting things, do we?"
“No, we don't." Soulless murmured, deep in thought. He then turned to the crate of weapons and began digging again. He came out with a pair of suppressor and a Vortex competition grade rifle scope.
“What are you doing?" Dark asked, confused.
“Can you find the forward observation base the Hind came from?"
“I can, but-"
“Do it." Soulless cut him off. “I'm going to go infiltrate take a look through their files. I want to know why this Hind is reported shot down, but it flew over us minutes ago."
Evil and Dark shared a look. “Why don't you go with us too? You can provide us cover fire while we infiltrate the more. . .manual way."
“That's because I need you two to call in Platinum and Titanium, the twins. Get them out here and be ready to come when I need you. I'll be gone for a few days. Don't try and radio me."
Dark swallowed and nodded. Evil just pinched the ridge of his nose and shook his head. Soulless did have the training to do a one man operation, he knew, but he did it way too often for his liking.
Soulless finished removing the muzzle compensator on his AR-15 and started screwing on the suppressor. He twisted it tight and slung the strap over his shoulder so the rifle hung over his chest. Then he pulled his Glock 17 out and screwed the suppressor onto the threaded barrel. He began to remove the fasteners to take his holographic sight off the AR-15 when Evil's hand landed on his shoulder.
“You don't have to do this alone." Evil muttered in his ear.
“I know." Soulless said calmly, placing his own hand on Evil's shoulder. “But I'm the best one for the job. Besides, I need you here to help Dark and the twins. You and I have been friends for the longest time, bro. That's why I trust you to take care of things here."
Evil nodded solemnly. “Take care, Soulless."
Soulless laughed. “Don't go all soft on me now. I know that kind of yours is working out a way to prevent me from going."
Evil grinned, and Soulless finished attaching the scope to his rifle. It consisted of the scope in its holder, but on a side rail, a red dot sight was mounted at a forty-five degree angle, so the rifle could be twisted over and used at close range. That was one of the advantages of having an angled foregrip, which Soulless attached now.
Looking back at Evil and Dark, he nodded to them, and they nodded back. “See you soon."
Evil yelled as he left. “Don't make me come save your sorry ass again!"
Soulless chuckled, then, yanking back the charging handle on his AR, left the cave.

My guess is 552,804.

(Based on the stats given by Roke 12 days after release, the average kills/day has been 13,735, so multiply that by 38 and you get 521k. Although there are obviously bad days and weekends, so I added a bit more.)
