A Guide To Becoming Sherff- Verlyn

With the reopening of sheriff applications, many of you fellow Wild Westers wish to seize this valuable experience and maximize the amount of experience and fun you have on the server. However, obtaining this rank is no easy feat, and requires a considerate amount of work, time, and effort. Though this guide is designed to help you achieve this rank, your actions alone will determine if you succeed or not.

A list of the things considered, categorized by importance:

1. Application(Highly Considered): Writing a detailed and well thought out application will almost always get you accepted. Our good friend randomcitizen has already provided a guide on writing a successful application, which can be found at https://www.brawl.com/threads/58299/. Answering all questions in complete, grammatically correct sentences and sufficient detail will show others that you really do want this rank, and will definitely lead to a more successful overall rating. I would estimate a well written application to take around 20-30 minutes of concentrated work. Don’t forget to add a poll!
   
   
2. Maturity(Highly Considered): Being mature is essential to becoming a successful sheriff, as sheriffs must maintain unbiased viewpoints of the servers players. This means that you have to be respectful to others in chat, as well as on forums and teamspeak. This also means that you should avoid swearing, spamming, typing in all caps, or hackusating. Inability to demonstrate these traits will cause your chance of being denied to significantly increase. I would recommend keeping a clean history for at least three weeks before applying. 3. Knowledgeability/Activity(Considered): Being active definitely signifies your dedication to the server, and will significantly increase your chances of being accepted. Though it takes around a week to understand the basics of Wild West, you should wait a significant amount longer before applying for sheriff in order to further acquaint yourself with the players/community. You should have at least a month's worth of experience before applying for sheriff.
   
   
4. Interacting with the community(Not considered, helpful): Interacting with the community on forums and teamspeak isn’t necessarily required in order to obtain sheriff, but it definitely boosts your chance. This way, other players can get to know you better.
   

As I mentioned earlier, following this guide will help you increase your chances, but won’t guarantee that you are accepted. Remember, if you don’t succeed, don’t be afraid to try again!
