Necro Bump suggestion

    There are so many old threads that have been untouched for months or even years and yet one thing that baffles me is that necro bumping threads is against the forum rules, when it could just be made that threads get automatically locked after a certain number of weeks/months. If threads would be still relevant they wouldn't be left abandoned for weeks or months

    Thoughts?

    Some threads still can be posted on after months or even years have passed if the post is still relevant (like, there's some CTF teams which had threads made early 2015 and they're still used). Having things like this getting locked when they shouldn't get locked would just end up being annoying. However, if its possible to automatically determine which threads should get locked and which ones shouldn't, +1.

    then again threads like ctf teams are constantly updated and can be bumped with ease but it still stands true

    First of all, I'm not sure if threads can automatically be locked after a certain amount of time without a reply.
    On top of that, there are many exceptions from the rule: Team / Group threads, Server Ideas, Ressource Packs, Map Submissions, threads such as "Favourite weapon".
    If it would be automatically possible, we could of course do it. But having to lock a few threads because they were gravedug is really not much work.

    This would involve a website-based plugin (if one even exists), which involves money being spent unnecessarily, which involves money which can't be used elsewhere (e.g in-game content), which then involves upset :frowning:

    Would be too much work just to sort out which threads should stay open and which ones should be closed after a month or so. Its not really a big problem anyway

    I have seen this on another forum for a minecraft server... I guess it's a lot of work for such a small detail tho...

    If you are going to legitimately grave dig, the only reason that you should do that is because you have found a point of view on the topic that has not been discussed yet. Since I don't want to take that away from the community, I think it would be ok to leave it.
