Idea WarZ Server Numbers

    Since my return to Brawl, i've noticed that one of the big discussions regarding WarZ at the moment seems to be the number of servers dedicated to WarZ. Currently there are 4 WarZ servers running and in brackets i'm going to add how many players are currently on the servers as I am looking at them now:
    • WarZ 1 (7/100)
    • WarZ 2 (9/100)
    • WarZ 4 (2/100)
    • WarZ5 (10/100)
    (Obviously being in EU timezone i'm expecting these to be less than during US time and I will be adding US values later this evening)

    Now, I noticed that many people are calling for the rest of the 6 servers to be reopened and return WarZ to it's 10 server-self, however, I couldn't help but look at this and think... Why doesn't WarZ just have one dedicated server, in the same fashion of Wild West?

    Surely this would considerably decrease upkeep costs associated with WarZ, and could also bring more of a community back into WarZ, by flooding all players onto one server where everyone can interact when online, instead of spreading the (already thinning) community across a number of servers.

    This is kind of a Server Idea / Server discussion so I look forward to seeing everyone's constructive feedback on this matter.

    I think what people are worried about is how easily loot will be lost. The echest only holds a certain amount of loot. They run out, they can't really help in a fight. The thought of constantly fighting also bugs me too. I believe this is why people want it to be that way.

    I understand where you're coming from though. There are little to no players on a server until someone spams on the practice server "Get on warz (server number) you (insert word here)! We are all da full d!". Two days ago we had a triple tab because of this.

    Very true, and I was aware when writing this post that one of the key issues associated with this idea would be the fact that many WarZ players do like to be able to switch between servers after they've died or whatever...
    Regarding the echest maybe the single chest space could be expanded to a Double chest size to tackle this issue.

    I think this would do it! The only problem I can see of this is people guarding echests, but that was never really a problem now either. It might become one after there's one server, and that's what I'm worried about

    As a long time Warz player, I do agree that I enjoy having multiple servers to be able to play on because it allows me to 1. find fights more easily and 2. start fresh if you die on another.

    When you say start fresh, are you referring to spawning in a high-end level area with full diamond armour and weaponry?:wink: If this change were to be implemented it could lead to a change in many peoples fighting style on WarZ - a much more reserved, tactical style as oppose to simply rushing and hoping for the best (similarly to the actual DayZ game)

    If it were to be like this, I think there should be better loot spawning, along with a bigger map.

    I agree with the loot spawning, perhaps even something as simples adding more chests, but definitely some aspects of the mechanics would have to be edited in relation to all players being on one server.

    Not too sure about the map, I mean, the map as it is is rather large and by condensing all WarZ players onto one map it would mean that coming into contact with players all over the map becomes much more of an aspect than it currently is - as oppose to northern area being the only real threat.

    Change up WarZ too much and you disappoint those who've played it for years. I suggest keeping it how it is, and when WarZ 2.0 is released, reduce it to one or two servers and keep it as a legacy server.

    I agree with you in the sense that all this change should come with the release of WarZ 2.0, but I think we need to stop focusing on disappointing those who have played for years. Those players will have a loyalty to the server and even if they don't like initial change, they'll get use to it as they're part of the community. The focus has to be redirected towards making WarZ attractive to a newer, larger playerbase - and to do this big changes, possibly, such as this are needed.

    Honestly, I completely agree. The whole point of WarZ at the moment is fighting other people, and its hard to do when the already small community is spread amongst four servers. Its a waste of money, especially when we only need one server (which'd have the old and new map on it).

    No, big no.

    We would have one team (whoever wins the first few fights) be the only people who can enjoy the server (have 3/4 and full d/having excess loot to keep fighting) until they get bored of the server and another team takes their place.

    WarZ needs at least 4 servers to function, giving time between fights on different servers for players to gear up and for smaller fights to happen, cycling loot throughout.

    I understand where you're coming from and currently you may be correct... however if the map were to contain to areas that you can acquire equally high-level loot then this issue becomes easily resolved. as:
    1. If there is a good group in one area, any other group can collect good loot and attack the other team.
    2. Not everyone is on 24/7, so inevitably at some points players in high level areas with good loot will be offline during which time other players can take advantage of this.

    I agree with this, people are like sheep, they go where others go. If you see a war server with 5 players on and another with 30, the majority are going to go the 30. If there is 1 server with lots of players on, more players will join as they will see that its active, popular etc.

    I believe WarZ players (of which I am not much of one) like being able to die and know that they are alive on another server, fights move from server to server etc. What if all players were given 9 slot enderchest, VIP given 36, MVP 45, and Elite 54 (or different numbers, just suggestions). This would mean allow 2 things to happen: Ranks can store more loot meaning they can store a lot more, since thats one of the reasons people like having many servers - Lots of loot setups.

    2ndly, by normal players having a small enderchest, they might start to play more since they can store their stuff, and also, they get a taste for enderchests and might realise how good useful enderchests can be and may buy a rank - Funding the server.

    The commonality of good loot may need to be increased to accommodate for people loosing loot more often due to more players/fights

    There would develop as many "gangs" of players as zone 6 areas. It would be cool to see zone 6 areas transformed into kingdoms almost, but I don't know if the players would like it.

    That's quite a cool idea to be honest, something that would obviously become more compelling if WarZ were to be condensed onto one server.
    I also think it would do a lot for teams as well, having all players on the same server all the time, teams instantly become more important for survival. Team vs Team combat grows as large teams look to dominate the server etc.

    Yeah, but then a team system would kinda be needed for the server, which is something the WarZ players absolutely hated when it was made, mainly because it was limited to 5(?) players. It would be pretty cool to see, but I feel like such a server would need at least 100 players to function properly.

    I have played warz for almost 4 years now and seeing the servers dicreaced so much already has been hard i heavily dissagree with you as this change would displease many veterans who enjoy the server hoping and the fun of the muiltiple maps.
