    Welcome
    Read at your own risk.

I myself have came up with quite a lot of ideas for Wild West, a gamemode I truly love. While doing this, I have had to face the obvious fact that the playercount which depends mainly on how enjoyable the game is for players most of the forums community would call noobs, is negatively affected by most updates I myself/most of the forums community would profit from.

This fact, is one I have discussed with many. Some of those discussions have been quite inspiring, so inspiring in fact that they likely are the main reason I decided to create this guide. It includes 2 parts, the guide (only for 3+1 gamemodes becauss i am lazy af), and the comparsion to brawl (I think theres a general issue with brawl here).

We will asume you arent mc putty, so you cant do whatever tf you want, but you will be the manager for the gamemode in question.

    How to - Survival

Let's say we have a basic survival server with a shop where the currency is gold ingots (similar to current raid). There's a quite small elite with perfect gear and perfect knowledge of the game. What should we do in order to decrease the playercount?

The obvious way would of course be to ban everyone, but we will not count this as an option since you would be instantly demoted.

The easiest way would probably be to make it easy for experienced players to **** up all new players 24/7. This would drop the playercount significantly even under quite a short period of time.

One great way would be to let the more experienced players track the new players so they can easily raid the new players bases - and **** the new players over a little bit more. What a great way to make people quit.

This would not be opposed by either the staff team or the forums community since they both mainly concist of those "elite players" described above. And in case the playercount slips down by another few players every now and then, hey! You can say people just move on or that the eula hit us hard. You wont even be blamed for the destruction of the survival server!

How to - Gun tmd server.
Lets asume you are in charge of a server where players are randomly organized into teams to shoot each other. The prestige weapons are a bit op, but you wouldnt like to make them more op, because A, it is nearly impossoble, B, It would be too obvious to everyone and C, The effects would probably be quite low in the end.

What you would like to do again, is to have the "elite" screw all new players up and decrease the stream of new players.

This could be done by adding "Clans". A concept unlimited sized clans where the players of the same clan always are on the same team, would mean nearly al good players would be on the same team. This would mean new players would mostly fight "elite players" while the opposite is true for "elite" players.

This kind of an organizing of teams would make it so hard for newbs most of them would simple leave. Mission accomplished, playercount screwed and the forums community happy with themselves.

    How to - Wild West
Here you have encountered a problem. Even the "elite" of bandits can impossibly bully new players enough especially with the current economy, and you cant know excactly what an economical update would bring with it.

The first thing you make sure is that there will never be a team size limit. This you think would decrease the power of the strongest teams so much they wouldnt necessarily be able to bully new players all the time. As stated above, this would not be enough.

That's why you need to create a whole new rank for players whos job is to bully new players. This rank could have a nice cover name, "sheriff". A sheriffs job would be to check bases for players who try to make money and destroy it for them, or go cuff all players who kill someone to remove the feeling of succes they had.

This would make the experience for new players so horrible they would quit. Mission accomplished, playercount destroyed.

    Comparing this to brawl
It should be obvious for anyone who habe read everything so far that I have used the excact same things as brawl have done as ways to lower the playercount.

I answer what i think is the reason, but i would like to go a bit more in depth here (taking ww as an example).

It is obvious that for example the ww economy is balanced for ranked players and experienced players. One might ask if it has anything to do with the fact that the staff who discuss these things and whos opinions matter have ranks (a staff rank gives the same as Elite). I think it has. Does it have anything to do with the fact that we who suggest ideas in the ideas section and discuss the game here are experienced and often have a rank? I think so.

If some things felt obvious, well we agree.

    Thougths?

Firstly, your claim that updates are bias towards ranked players due to the fact that staff members have the same permissions as the ELITE donator rank is simply ludicrous. Admins, Sr Moderators & Developers have no need to look for personal gain when developing updates for the server - they're simply producing new content for the community.

Secondly, I'm struggling to understand the second part of your concluding paragraph regarding ranked players making suggestions.

Thirdly, I don't understand everything else you have said.

When he refers to the game being biased towards ranked players, and unfriendly to unranked or new players, aka “whitenames" he's referring to Wild West specifically, where ranked players can process faster, be more mobile, have more horse storage, harvest faster, mine faster, make money faster, get out of jail faster....when whitenames struggle to do even the most basic tasks that ranked players complete with ease.

I believe there is a problem when gamemodes are balanced later (I asume jmods and mods and the community have a say). I am not 100% sure if this is the case as I am have never been involved with things as you have been, but it seems like the only way to explain some unlogical things to me.

EDIT: = I do not believe the problem necessary is when a gamemode is created, as there is no reason why higher staff would be biased, but the game should correct itself when it gets unbiased feedback. This dont obviously happen right now.
