Brawl follows a different protocol. If a player gets caught hacking, he will be banned from all brawl servers. However, you can get unbanned by making an appeal (it has to be accepted obviously) or just buying an unban for 10$. Furthermore, if you get banned again, then appeal or buy your last unban for 20$.

Remember that: At this point you can still play on an alt even though your main account is banned.

If you use an illegal mod/client for the third time, then you are permanent banned from all brawl servers(ip banned). This means you can't join Brawl again and your alts will eventually get banned after an ip check. Here are some examples of ip banned players:
