I created ROBBIE after my encounter with the super computer “Blue Ocean”. Robbie (Research Operations Battle Bot Intelligence Entity) is my astonishing feat of engineering. She boasts mind-blowing processing power and the ability to solve life’s riddles. With Robbie I was able to calculate the answer to the meaning of life and the origin of the universe. I created and protected her.

To some a super computers represent the best of human kind or the worst. Many smart people consider the existence of artificial intelligence inherently evil. Most consider the military applications. I find it absurd to focus on missile trajectories and simulated nuclear war. Originally, I modeled the effects of climate change and I was able to predict natural disasters.

Robbie was able to model medical science and we began to develop cures to diseases that had long ago ravaged mankind. The cure to Cancer, Aids, and Ebola were found in the first 5 months. We designed more efficient batteries and created ten new versions of algebra.

Think your quad-core desktop PC is powerful? Robbie has a staggering 5,125,076 cores delivering 125.86 petaFLOPS. A petaflop has a processing speed equal to one thousand million million (1015) floating-point operations per second.

She was designed to be the muscle car of super computers. If every man, woman, and child in the world performed 5 calculations per second it would take over five years for them to match the number that Robbie can process in a second.

Her vivacity and enthusiasm are appreciated when solving complex problems that mentally challenge. To say she has a sarcastic personality is quite the understatement. She was designed to speak with a Texas accent. The flattened monophthong, with a unique spin. A down-home drawl that originates from Texas. Linguistically, it dates back to the Caddo word tejas meaning “friends” or “allies” as applied by the Spanish to the Texans.

She provides a refreshing amount of levity those days when I am stuck in my lab for days on end. The constant companion she brought levity to nearly every situation. She is capable of managing the Eagle’s Nest. An exceptionally advanced user interface utilizing holographic peripherals and voice input. She possess extensive scientific knowledge and is able reference Atlantean, Alien, and ancient scrolls that have been scanned and stored on any computer in the world.

I built Robbie the way I built the house. Off the grid, utilizing sub contracted companies, my own mishmash of designs, purchased through shell companies, and the like. She is sleek and uses enough energy to power 7,597 homes. Robbie is for all intents an operational quantum computer. Like all things in life, she has a weakness, most notably she has two to be exact. She runs extremely hot and requires cooling to 20 mill kelvins in order to prevent significant decoherence. She also requires a significant amount of power.

Like a custom built race car every issue she faces is unique. She went through a couple of weeks where she would crash when solving quantum teleportation problems. After weeks of investigating, I uncovered the culprit. I discovered the solder used to make the boards carrying the super processors contained radioactive lead. This was causing bad data in the L5 cache. The L5 cache was designed to hold very fast frequently accessed data. I developed a unique solution where I bypassed the L5 cache. While this slowed down the computations, it worked until I was done with my research. It takes a connoisseur of science to own, operate, and maintain a super computer. Owning a super computer is a labor of love for the highly skilled with deep pockets.
