    My 1070 is starting to suffer a bit...I often get bad game freezes and crashes at the moment, both in MC and in Far Cry 3/4, not sure what the issue is.

    a) anyone got a fix or a suggestion?

    b) can I upgrade to any 1080 without chipset issues and stuff? (not right now due to mining of course)

    I'm guessing to be honest. My MC doesn't even want to run using my card, it sticks to my GPU, which may be the root of the issue. Is there a fix for that though?

    Do you mean CPU? And I'm pretty sure Minecraft relies more on the CPU than the GPU.

    Ahh...1500W Bronze from EVGA, I don't remember 100%. I'll be installing a new cooler in a few days as my current cooler legit just died, so I can tell you then :frowning:

    I have mounted another backup cooler, however this barely gets my CPU to decent temps under medium load.

    Ah okay. Could you state your CPU and GPU temperatures under medium load?

    Uhh around 85 to 90 degrees, which is way too hot. If I even load Far Cry 3 I get a CPU heat warning and can actually feel the heat from outside the case, which is not OK.

    That is very hot and it looks like that cooler is not helping at all. Also, this could also be why you're crashing and freezing in games. Here is my suggestion before we continue with this diagnosing: wait until you install your new cooler in a few days, test while under load and tell me if you're still crashing.
