Geez, Brawl barely gets over 100 players these days. Some of the games aren't fun to play with few players. This could hurt us even more. Newcomers will look and assume we have bad games and go somewhere else.

Games like War, CTF, KitBrawl, HG, BattleRoyale, and Party thrive on large player counts, imo around 20 or more.
Games like WarZ, Raid, and Wild West don't need a large player count constantly. Some players enjoy quiet times in order to grow in progress.

I'm not going to say we're dying, but I will say we have been going down hill since Mojang blacklisted us over a year ago. There is a bottom to this hill. Let's hope we can one day climb back up.

This was taken back in October of 2015. As you can see, I took this screenshot as a joke. I vaguely remember people saying around 600 wasn't such a great player count back then, but it surely is spectacular compared to what we have now.

You could name a number of reasons why this is happening.
    - School could be a reason.
    - This new game Fortnite could be another. I've heard it be called "the new Minecraft". If so, I'd love to see it try to reach Minecraft's sales.
    - The player base who has been with Minecraft since the beginning is getting older and wants to move on to other things.

If these reasons are why we're declining, then why are some of the other servers like Hypixel and Mineplex thriving? What are we doing wrong?

I personally think its that brawl as a whole is way too out dated. We don't have any big fancy updates or things to excite players, and a lot of our gamemodes are way too player reliant. Minecraft has been getting far less popular among older people (which has been a large part of brawl's playerbase). There are still a lot of people interested in the game, and a lot of new players joining MC are younger, so I think we should shift the server's appeal towards them, then push out new games and such. Simple changes that could help are a new, fun hub, and a more friendly network format. We also need to follow popular trends imo, such as more reward systems and a better currency system across brawl.

MC does still have a massive playerbase - many gamemodes were simply not treated properly by the previous management, which lead to bad views and no updates.

This is the core of the problem really - management was focused on releasing new game modes when they should have been updating the ones we already have

War is pretty steady at least... Not many players but I don't see any huge change to less or more players.

WHAT. Why do people in this community still have that absolutely stupid mindset? Please. Look at the most successful MC server right now and ask yourself: Why are they so popular? If you still arrive at this conclusion, look at what their owner has to say:

If Hypixel had only focused on making Mega Walls more popular, their entire community would only be the Mega Walls player base, which is much smaller these days. Instead, Hypixel broadened their horizons and tested new games that might not all have worked out, but when a single one of them did, they capitalized on the opportunity. Brawl's problem is that it hasn't exploded from any of the games it's released, and the old community is as *****y as ever.

    Thanks for being ignorant!

Why haven't we exploded from our new games? Why did BattleRoyale completely flop? Is our toxic community one of the problems?

Every community has toxicity, that doesn't really matter. I can't directly answer why Battle Royale sucked, but I think it says a lot that Hypixel's Battle Royale flopped as well, and they shut it down. If Hypixel couldn't do it, Brawl didn't have a chance.

You’re right, but it’s highly situational. Hypixel has the means to release gamemodes without too much risk, but for Brawl a new gamemode means dedicating all available resources to what essentially amounts to a gamble.

I’d like to see new gamemodes, sure. But if you can’t retain new players for long enough to build a decent playerbase, and if you can’t make enough money to even get a gamemode started, you’re fighting an uphill battle.

Tbh I don't think that's a valid comparison. Hypixel has a huge player base and reputation - we don't. Instead of pumping out new game modes as a gamble to attract players, I think new game modes would be more successful if we instead strengthened our base FIRST.

Updating our network and current game modes could potentially make us more attractive for people to come and stay if we released something new / advertised more. Its so hard to do this though without the resources :/

To be clear, I have no idea what will help Brawl now regain players. Fortnite and PUBG are cutting into the MC player base in large numbers, every Minecraft server is feeling it. The only thing most can do is try to limit the damage.

My comment was addressing what @DeadRhos said about the past. When Brawl had the resources to try and make gamemodes, they were completely in the right to try and do so. It just didn't work out.

How can Fortnite beat Minecraft sales when installing the game doesn’t cost a dime

We would have been able to hold on to most of our community if EULA hadn’t hit Brawl hard. Players flocked to steady communities (I:E Hypixel, Mineplex) that they knew weren’t going to go down without a fight. The administrative team on Brawl also focused on individual game modes and projects without giving everyone some love in terms of development. Add that on top of everyone’s skepticism about Brawl still being around in 1-2 years, and there’s your answer.
