Why is "gay" censored in chat?

Probably was used so much as an insult that they added it to the censor.

I believe you can do a softer censor with /censor which may leave out words like gay (which generally have a meaning beyond insulting).

 

yeah it has nothing to do with the general definition of the word, it's likely due to repetitive use as an insult that was just getting aggravating. Those other words are probably never/rarely used as an insult resulting in no need to censor.

 

I don't think its nothing against "gays". There are just enough kids that use words like "gay" and others as a insult. To be honest it's not really an insult I mean were in 2k18 but you know there are always some kids who dont't understand that.

 

I agree however like many said before me, “gay” has been used frequently as an insult. For the time being use homosexual.

I'm just going to leave this here.
Firstly, talking about one's sexual orientation seems pretty que... ahem... odd on a Minecraft server. :v Secondly, I can guarantee that it will be used as an insult far more frequently than in the sense you're talking about. I'm fairly certain that the term homosexual is uncensored. That should serve as a more than adequate replacement for the word "gay." Another option is to turn the censor off, though that won't help much with other people understanding you. I'd recommend simply using the term homosexual. Sure it's a bit longer, but it communicates its meaning every bit as clearly as the term "gay," and isn't going to be used as an insult anytime soon. Don't take the censor personally. It shouldn't be construed to be discriminatory or anything.
