Everyone’s answer to the dreaded Enchanting Problem.

So I was super late to read @NoHacksJustCooki ‘s thread about enchanting, which was a good thread. I thought about it and typed up a reply to it, but I realized that making a post would just be better.

So, it’s fairly evident that there’s an economy issue this map that is driving players away. P4 is too hard to get with 1.7 enchanting, and this is a huge shift trying to enforce iron 1v1’s, but for players like myself who hate iron 1v1’s, was fairly uncomfortable. P4 being too hard to get hasn’t elimated p4 altogether, but it’s elimated most p4 fights, because people don’t want to take the gamble with their set they spent an hour or so on.

Now, I’ve found the root of the problem. When reading the thread, I completely sympathized and understood @Eil ’s frustration, questioning why players wanted 1.7 enchanting because p4 was “too easy to get” but now everyone is complaing it’s too hard. But just think, for a second, was p4 being “too easy to get” ever actually the problem? It’s a necessity, you need it for koths, it’s good to take on raids, to help your team in fights. it shouldn’t be too hard to get so that players can actually be competitive in the server, have a couple sets and gamble it correctly to turn a couple into multiple. The problem was that it was too easy to stack, and this was only ever an issue at koths. Think about when p4 being “too easy to get” was ever a problem, barring people who bring 2 sets to spawn (ask them for a 1 set 1v1, most people will do it) besides koth? Pretty much never.


Now, I was an advocate for the 1.7 system, because I was so frustrated with 3 hour koths and the same person coming back and back and back 50 times with a new set to knock me until I got bored and went to bed. It seemed like the easiest fix. But the koth system needed to be changed to fix this, and it was! When koth comes out soon™, with the new system, if a team fights the capping team and loses, by the time they regear and go back to koth the capping team has already pretty much won.

Players need p4. It’s important for everyone to have, how much of it isn’t important, but in order to remain competitive on the server people need to have a set ready at all times. The change of koths was the p4 stacking change we needed, 1.7 enchanting was just overkill.

@ raid staff, if you can revert it, probably a good idea. Bring some players back. When koths come out, how many people will actually have spent enough time grinding a full 1.7 set by then? How many players will be competing? 15? 20?


TLDR: p4 being “to easy to get” was never the problem, it was that it was to easy to stack at koths and knock. The koth changes fixed that, so new koths soon™ won’t have p4 stacking. 1.7 enchanting was overkill and now players can’t get p4 to even be competitive in these events.

 

Ofcourse, vault raids feel nicer now, but how many have we gotten since last map? There are rarely people that are worth tracking, since very few people actually have p4
