So you want to be a better sniper? You've come to the right place....or post...hmm....but whatever! This post should inform you on the basics of staying alive in a sniping firefight. It will include the areas of aim, maneuvers, weapons, perks, and overall tactics a sniper should always have on standby.

Area 1: AIM: This is the most overlooked part of sniping I have ever seen. The whole point of being a sniper is to support your team. Iso players don't realize this and tend to Rambo for 10 seconds at close range and die. No, Never do that unless you are alone and in a small room with no cover(ill get to that later). The trick to aim as a sniper is, ALWAYS aim for the head and when your not aiming for someone, keep the crosshairs level with were an enemy's head would be. This is the untold trick that I use, and its why I headshot most of my shots because I have practiced holding my crosshairs at enemy head hight. Also, don't try to no scope please. Never do it unless you are literally occupying the same block as an enemy.

Area 2: WEAPONS: This is probably the most important part of any good player. Find a gun that is good for you, if you like to Rambo with a sniper (stop doing that) then use an msr or a dragnov, it's quick fire rate will give you and edge. If you like to hold back then use a barret50c or a l118a to pick off other snipers and auto making a rush. For 31+ players the iso is a big DON'T sign, Not only will you get lots of flak from players who want to have fun on mc-war but its just not a good entry level sniper. The dissassembler I would also say to stay away from, the uninterrupted fire may look cool, but your ammo will be gone before you know it.

Area 3: MANEUVERS: This is were the hard part comes in. Being able to dodge enemy fire while shooting back is a skill I have only just mastered. Hopefully I can help you learn faster then I did though

The strafe: This is the most simple of the maneuvers can keep you alive under a hail of fire, but it has MAJOR faults. Such as, if you are the target of said hail of automatic death then as soon as you scope in to fire back, you die. Also make sure you either get to cover, or change direction within the first 5 seconds of strafing or the hostile will lead there shot and kill you in 2 seconds.

The Serpentine dodge: Like a strafe, but moving quickly back and forth while moving forward or back. Make sure your sprinting while doing this. This also only works if the target is an automatic or is using a slow fire weapon like the cbow or law. Also very useful in infected

Cornering: Like it's name suggests, this is used for controlling a corner without taking a stupid amount of damage. Just pop your head out from the corner when the enemy is reloading or if your quick scoping skill is good enough that you think that you can take on the target. Then pop back before you can get counter sniped or blown up

There are others but I want you to make some or your own! (I have secret maneuvers that I use)

Area 4: PERKS: this is the end of the post for any non-doners (FWI). Perks can make or break a sniper, and there are only a few that can actually help.

Scavenger: Getting extra ammo per is fun, enough said, it can also keep you doing support longer and benefiting your team.
Juggernaut: If you haven't mastered dodging yet, then this is the perk for you, you take 1/3 less damage per shot, meaning you can take 15 shots instead of 10 before dieing to an automatic that has popped out from a corner.
Marathon: this perk is great for rushing or dodging more effectively as well as retreat
    Speed: see Marathon
Stopping power: Great for being a more effective player but only if you have good/great accuracy.
Slight of Hand: Halving the reload speed of a sniper can keep up the suppression but its not to good unless your in a map with little cover
Hardline: this perk is quite useless unless your focus is getting EMPs to support your team
Martyrdom: this perk is useless to a sniper, completely useless, if your doing it right, players shouldn't be close enough to you to take damage from a grenade
flak jacket: this perk is only useful if your in a server with a ton of ray gun players

Hopefully you found this helpful to you, make sure you ask for clarification if something doesn't make sense!

Nice info. But, I have seen WAY better snipers that you. Sorry! Also don't just join the forums and start telling people that you're better than them. It doesn't go down well.

He could be pretty good with snipers in Mc-War but not be that known. Not having a forums acc doesn't mean that you don't have a ton of knowledge about a certain type of gun.

True, he may not be the greatest of snipers (like me), but he seems to know a lot about them though.

Sniping is easy. Aim for the huge head.
Honestly its just as simple as aiming for the person's nametag.
There is no real "skill" in sniping other than fast reactions.
Also the disassembler is by the best primary.
It can get the biggest killfeed quickly with headshots.

You want a good tip, just get a feel for how fast the bullet travels. Judge on the direction your target is heading, and shoot the bullet a little ahead of them. Also, when reloading you want to get into cover and get a kill or two with the python.

I see why you don't see me as a great sniper, I have no reputation other then that I just posted a egotistical post about how to be good with a sniper. But I think that the fact that no other player that is 31+ can nuke by only using a barret50c speaks for itself, believe me, I know what I'm doing
I have played with you, you ability to use an over powered automatic is unparalleled I'm sure *chough*skullcrusher*cough*
Thank you! Finally someone sees why I'm above average!

In my opinion, it's easy to nuke with the Barrett. It's like nuking with the iso, you just have to aim a lot better (headshots :V)

Im not suggesting that snipers should go Rambo and try to kill feed. Notice how many times I said not to do that? While its good to have if you get lucky, please don't make players think that they can rack up ks super fast all the time by using a fast shooting gun
Have you nuked with a sniper without using the iso, a perk, any tacticals or lethals, and without your secondary? Thats not easy

I don't use tacticals or lethals. I have the USP45 as a secondary so that I don't use it. I got quite a few nukes with it before someone donated scavenger for me. But yeah, it's (kind of) hard.

In my point of view just get the iso forget the head as long as you get the kill. Thats how i roll.... AND it hasn 't been going to well.

Im trying to keep players from doing this, if you use the iso for more then 10 rounds you literally lose skill :banghead:
