Should this command be added?

  1. Yes, I would like to be able to know when I'm lagging and when it's the server

  2. No, I believe this command wouldn't help the servers, and it wouldn't help a lot of people

This is a simple suggestion, and shouldn't be too hard to pull off. So in the plugin Essentials, there is a command, /gc. When used, it reports the server uptime and how fast it's going, or if the connection is bad or not. What I was thinking was that a command, /lag, should be implemented in all servers. It basically tells you how fast the server is going, and its TPS (don't know what that means, but...)
For instance, if the TPS is 20.00 and you're lagging, if you do /lag it will tell you that the server is at 20 TPS, and you'll know that it's your internet. If it says something like 18 TPS, you'll know that the server is lagging. Simple command, but it could be quite useful.

Of course, the command can be changed, but I believe /lag would be the simplest solution.

EDIT: It is more useful than /ping, as /ping only shows you whether you're lagging or not. Any command that gives you a result can do that. This command actually shows you which side is lagging - the server or you.

Seems simple enough to add while being useful enough to use
    Sounds good to me!

While I like it, and it probably should be added, whenever the server is freezing up, just open up command prompt, ping google or some site, and check your packet loss. If you have a 0%/low packet loss, it's the server. If you have a high packet loss, it's you.

I love this suggestion! Now, we might get less threads complaining about lag.

/lag is a plugin that already exists inside the plugin essentials. In essentials, /lag consists of the servers current TPS (On a scale from 1-20), all the worlds & the entities in them, and a few other things.

They could code it though so that it only makes it show the servers current TPS (TPS, not FPS. TPS = Ticks Per Seconds).

Ah, thanks for telling me what TPS is. MC-War doesn't use essentials, so we should be good with that. Same with all the servers but WarZ... :l

This would be very helpful. I always wonder whether it is the server lagging or my internet. This would be a quick and simple way to do so. Great suggestion.
