Idea Rename armor, swords to ralistic items (baseball bats, carbon fibre vests)

    Sword just do not fit in a server with guns. Neither does plain iron, diamond armor. My suggestion is to rename these items and retexture them as well. Here are some examples:

    wooden sword: baseball bat
    stone sword: knife
    iron sword: machete
    diamond sword: circular saw

    leather armor: normal clothing
    iron armor: padded clothing
    diamond armor: carbon fibre clothing

    If you check out this texture pack you will notice that items such as the wooden sword as been re-textured as a Baseball Bat, for example.
    So I see no reason why this change couldn't be added to the item names in the next update.

    Just use texture pack as Green said above, no difference if you name them as they won't show when you kill someone in chat, anyways, nice idea.

    If people should just retexture items themselves, why is there an official texture pack in the first pack? Because people are lazy, and having a tp saves alot of people a lot of time so they dont have to manually find one.
    I haven't seen another similar thread. Provide links next time.
    It is possible to change the chat messages. Many plugins can do it.

    You can't "lock" a server idea for grave digging, unless the author wants a lock.

    I see what you're suggesting. Rename the items, as well as have a texture for them (maybe) to make the game more realistic. Really, you could use a language pack to do this, but adding names to items would add some realism. I can work on a small language pack for you if you want it, so that even if this isn't added, you can still have named items, complete with colors and such.
    Based on what you're saying though in the above post, you want to edit death messages and stuff.... You can't do that with a texture or resource pack, it would need an edit to plugin code.
