About 2 minutes ago, @Brian_Coffey changed the map from Void infect to Summit CTF with 2 seconds before the start. It was on server 9. He said that it was because Void infect is unfair (I assume because some people camp at the spawn). Is this a reasonable reason to change the map. It wasn't really fair as I had already selected the raygun assuming it would be infect. Please advise if this is normal mod behaviour?

    Thanks.

It is a good reason to do it. But changing a map is a demote offence. Mods used to be allowed, but then some if them abused it. After this, the command is not allowed to be used.

Void is a unfair map i see why he did it as people camp at the spawn or at the sides which is unfair to the infected

Blue spawns in an unreachable place, and I made the decision to randomly change the map so it's fair to all players. I appreciate SuperDad's concern for the issue, but I made the decision.

I know why you did it, and I agree with you. Under normal circumstances the Mod would be demoted.

void is not that unfair, one single grenade from a zombie kills all the campers

But for the zombie to get to the spawn, is very hard. Void is an unfair map, and will be changed in the update.

Brian_Coffey is a great mod and he did it once, he probably didn't know that you weren't allowed I am talking to him on the TS3 server right now he is sorry he is a great guy and this can't result into a demotion. Brian_Coffey is also a very nice guy and I don't think he mean't to do this just to annoy players.

All mods know it is a demotable offence to change the map, no matter what the map or gamemode. The blue spawn is a glitch the will be fixed but until then you will have to suck it up. I think he should get demoted for this, especially because he knows this and he did 2 seconds before the game, also if he was to change at least he should have changed it to tdm. The fact that he changed it to summit ctf means that he is using this as a excuse to change the map. If I am wrong then please tell me but I think either you give up mod on war but not mcparty or vise versa. This is my opinion.

Actually, I have to correct you. I used the "/fp" command correctly, and it wasn't 2 seconds before the game had started. That command randomly assigns a map.

All that matter is than you changed it. If I was in the same position, I would have done the same. @Brian_Coffey, you are an amazing mod, and no-one wants to see you demoted. Have no fear.

Brain coffee is a great mod. I know why that brain changed it. Reason why is ... Void is pretty much unfair to zombies and also 100% blue always wins. That is a Fact.

Brian_coffey, I don't particularly want you to be demoted I just want clarification on the situation. If you did it wrong let it be a learning experience for next time, if not then I learnt something.

The rule is, that mods should only change the map for bug testing.
But normally we also change the map, if we know there are OoM glitches and/or its unfair for one team.
You should always change the map at the beginning of the break, not 2 seconds before the game.
And, excuse me brian, summit looks a bit biased... maybe next time you should change it to another map.

But at all, thats not a reason for demoting!
If all mods would be instantly demoted, because they changed one map....
90% of us would loose the position.
If a mod is changing the map excessive, than he can be demoted.

I hope this is enough clarification.

Just to let you guys know, /fp without anything after it chooses a random map and gamemode. So maybe it was legit...
Anyways, here's when mods can change maps.
    • Glitch finding
    • Testing server bugs
    • OOM, trap, or OP spots
    • If the next map gives an advantage to a team (void: blues can camp in spawn, unreachable)
    They may not change it:
    • Because they want to
    • Because everyone spams the chat asking for a map change
    • Because one person or a few people ask for an map change

According to chickenputty, Moderators should only change maps for bug testing.
There are very few exceptions to this rule, but it's up to the Admins to decide what to do with Brian and if it goes against the rule.
