Most lower tiered weaponry suck a lot. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part they suck.
However, that's for normal players. For players who love experimenting and trying different weapon combos like me, you find out plenty of new tactics with worse weapons. Here I'll be explaining tactics for all weapons, but I'll really be focusing on those worse weapons.

Remember that this guide is made with old recoil in mind. Since weapons currently have no recoil you can safely ignore any part that regards recoil.

    Assault Rifles
M16A4: This weapon is similar to the Skullcrusher, as the latter is literally an upgraded version of the former.
Use it in a similar way, jumping and shooting often. However, the jump strategy won't work as well with a weapon like this since the bullets do little damage. You want as many bullets to hit as possible. So use the jumping strategy sparingly with the M16, instead waiting at a choke point and waiting for enemies to pass through. At close range, the hip fire accuracy is pretty good so you can shoot without aiming.
If you run into multiple enemies, this weapon isn't very good with dealing with all the enemies at once. Immediately take cover and focus your fire on one player, switching to the next. Remember target prioritizing. Overpowered prestige and donor weapons let you take on everyone at once and win, but in normal shooters all guns are balanced. Therefore you must play carefully since your gun is lower than most other guns. Basically, you focus on one target at a time. However if there is a more imminent and dangerous threat, like someone wielding a powerful weapon, switch your attention to him, taking him out first. This is crucial to winning a firefight with any weak weapon.
M4A1: The jump strategy also works with this weapon, since it has no recoil by default. However, it is an automatic weapon, and is a weak one too. Like the M16, you should focus less on the jumping strategy and more on spraying an enemy with bullets and using a choke point. When at a choke point, aim for the head for maximum effectiveness.
AK-47: This gun plays similarly to the M4A1, but it has recoil normally, so the jump strategy isn't able to be used effectively, especially since it's automatic. It is less accurate, but deals more damage and has a faster reload. Use this gun in closer ranges than you would the M16 and M4. Again, aim for the head for maximum effectiveness.
FAMAS: See the M16 guide. Since this weapon is more powerful, you won't have to take cover as much.
Lamentation: Use it in a similar manner to the M4A1. However, since it normally has recoil (low recoil but still there), the jumping strategy won't work well. Don't get too focused on firing all your bullets, as you're an open target while aiming down sights. Due to the low damage of this gun and the fact that it has recoil normally, hip fire is not recommended. However, at close range hip fire will gain you an easy kill assuming you've controlled the recoil.
This weapon has the fastest firerate of all assault rifles. Mastering it will make you extremely deadly.
Skullcrusher: See the M16 guide. Again, because this gun is more power, you won't need to take cover, almost at all. However, you'll find yourself reloading more often since this weapon can only fire 8 bursts as opposed to 10.

    Sniper Rifles
L118A: This weapon is quite deadly. Shooting an enemy will either deal 9 hearts of damage to them or kill them instantly with a headshot. Aim for the head with this weapon if possible when facing a player in armor, as a headshot will kill in 1 hit regardless of armor. When facing a normal player, aim for anywhere on their body. If you're lucky, you'll get a headshot. Otherwise switch to your secondary and finish the job. One hit with a secondary and they're done. Like all other bolt action sniper rifles, this weapon is pretty bad for taking multiple enemies on at once. Take cover and use target prioritization.
Even though this weapon has recoil normally, its low firerate allows you to use the jump strategy regardless.
Dragunov: This is a pretty nice weapon. It's similar to the Disassembler, again the latter being an upgraded version of the former. However, it normally has recoil, and its medium/high firerate prevents you from using the jump strategy. Stay in a choke point and pick off enemies one by one. Aiming for the head is especially effective.
When fighting multiple enemies, you can take them out easily by aiming for the head each time. However, its low capacity along with its long reload means you won't be taking out enemies too quickly. In addition, this weapon only has 32 shots.
Barrett: See the L118A guide. Remember that you only have 32 shots, so make sure every shot counts.
MSR: The Dragunov is similar to this weapon, so use the Dragunov guide. Remember that this weapon does more damage than the SVD, and that it has a faster firerate. However, its capacity is slightly smaller, and its reload is fairly long. But it has the highest firerate of all sniper rifles in the game.
It has just 32 shots, so it's easy to run out of ammo.
L120 Isolator: See the L118A guide. This weapon has the fastest firerate of all bolt action sniper rifles and does the most damage. However, it only has a capacity of 4 rounds.
If you miss one shot, you can always fire off another, or just switch to your secondary.
Disassembler: See the Dragunov guide. This weapon has no recoil, so the jumping strategy isn't a bad idea. It has a huge 30 round capacity, with 2 rounds in reserve by default. Reloads are almost non existent with this weapon, so don't reload unless you have like 2-3 rounds left in the magazine.
    You only get 32 shots.
    Shotguns
M1014: This weapon is a semi automatic beast in shooters. However, here it's a crappy pump action.
Don't aim when using this weapon, it's absolutely pointless to do so.
Move close to your enemy and keep moving. Shoot them while strafing, then try to get around or behind and shoot him again. You need to dodge the enemy's bullets, or you don't have much of a chance.
You only get 32 shots, so it's pretty much impossible to nuke with this weapon alone.
Try to aim for the head for double damage which could potentially kill in 1 hit.
SPAS-12: Use similar tactics to the M1014, but remember that this weapon has a faster firerate.
AA-12: Stay close to your enemy and spray them. This weapon doesn't have much ammo, but a very fast reload and the ability to kill in at least 2 shots. Usually it's 3-4 or more though.
Model 1887: This is an extremely deadly shotgun, because of its deadly damage (same as the FAMAS per bullet) and its nice range. It has a slow firerate, but that shouldn't be much of a problem when taking on enemies as you can hit multiple enemies at one time. Its high recoil is pretty hard to master.
SPAS-24: Use all SPAS-12 tactics. This weapon has a longer range, but otherwise it's identical to the SPAS-12.
Typhoid: This weapon is a pretty fast shotgun, and you can use it kind of like a combination of the AA-12 and the Model, spraying enemies. At point blank, 2 shots should kill, but at farther ranges you'll likely need 2-3 bursts.
    Submachine Guns
All of these weapons have the same general strategy. That's to spray while moving. When recoil is fixed this will likely be harder, but it's still possible. Run in with these guns and use hip fire. At medium ranges, aim down sights. At long range, use your secondary; your secondary probably has better accuracy.
    Pistols
USP .45: This weapon is known as one of the worst weapons in the whole game. However, some jokingly refer to it as the best weapon ever to exist at all. (kinda like Chuck Norris :open_mouth:)
This weapon is able to kill in 4 hits but due to health regeneration, will usually kill in 5-6 hits.
Switch to the M9 as soon as possible. Otherwise, use the jumping strategy while aiming carefully. Headshots will allow you to kill in 3 hits, so try to aim for the head. The low firerate makes this weapon terrible.
M9: This is surprisingly one of the best sidearms in the game. It kills in 2 hits with headshots, and even though it has a similar firerate to the USP, is more controlled and has a larger magazine. It also has a quick reload.
Magnum: This weapon is a downgrade from the M9. It's identical except for its 6 round capacity and a longer reload. Use it in the same manner as the M9, but remember that you'll be reloading pretty often.
Desert Eagle: This weapon has identical hip and aimed accuracy. That means you can use hip fire very often. Only aim when you need to more easily see your target.
This weapon has a high firerate, but high knockback. These two factors can cause an enemy shot by you to bounce out of the way of your next few shots, causing a reload.
It has the exact same damage as the M9 but kills more quickly because of its high firerate.
Executioner: Move in close to the enemy and take them down with a few shots. If they aren't dead by then, you'd better have your primary weapon ready, for this gun's reload is pretty long.
Python: Use it like the Dragunov. Remember that it's faster and has a 9 round magazine, too, in addition to a quicker reload. This weapon is literally better than the Dragunov.
    "Donor Weapons"
I won't be covering the minigun. You can use that one like a SMG. I'll cover the Ray Gun and Crossbow used in different gamemodes.

Flamethrower: Due to its fireball update, it's more deadly and harder to dodge. Basically just move close to your enemy and spam fireballs into them until they're dead. Due to its spread this can be used against multiple enemies at close range, effectively hindering their vision. If you want to have some real fun, get to the enemy spawn and use your flamethrower there for great reactions.
LAW (Non infected): Don't rely on the rocket to hit your enemy. Due to its slow speed it'll most likely miss. Instead, use splash damage. Aim for their feet, and jump around so they can't hit you.
Be careful in FFA, as the splash damage can hurt and kill you.
Ray Gun (Non infected): This weapon is more powerful than the LAW and has a faster firerate too. So it's better. However, it still kinda sucks in TDM. Kinda. Like the LAW, aim for their feet. 2-3 shots should get you a kill or two.
Be careful in FFA, as the splash damage can hurt and kill you.
Crossbow (FFA): Keep moving around, and don't waste time camping in one spot. If you suspect an enemy nearby, charge your bow. If you can, hit them with the bolt then run like hell. If they run into you, you'll die too.
Crossbow (Infected): Use similar tactics to FFA crossbow. Camping is fine as they don't have guns. However, keep moving until you're one of the last, to make sure you aren't discovered easily. Don't spam the crossbow unless you need to. That just wastes valuable ammo.

I was actually planning on making this guide to cover the bad weapons, but looks like I covered the good weapons too. I hope this was helpful for all those who want to play differently.

Wow, surprised a guide this well thought out doesn't have more replies. I also enjoy trying out old weapons that I haven't used for a while, because its fun to have a challenge every once and a while. It's also fun to analyze guns just like you have done, and find out if old guns have different strategies that can make them better. I love re-discovering old guns.
I agree, the m9 is one of the most under-appreciated weapons. I would be fine using it all the time.

I prefer to use the m9 and m16. This helped a lot. I do the jumping strategy w/ the m16 and I just found its not good. Thank you!
