    Mc-war: Infection Part 3

The trackers returned some ten minutes later with a very shaken coast at their side. he was snow covered and bluer than the darkening sky, shivering as he sat and warmed himself before a small fire Wolf Squad had scraped together out of the destroyed research facility. Sara Rain, the commander and newly appointed senior officer of the surviving forces, sat and cleaned her SkullCrusher, talking to some of her inner circle about various strategies to invading the compound. Taking this time, Coast surveyed the small cluster of bedraggled soldiers. They were frozen, beaten, and many scared out of their wits. Yet a strange determination filled their eyes. Coast was certain that these men would lay down their lives if they had to. Sara rose from her gaggle of advisors, addressing all thirty some men, “Wolf Squad!” Her voice rang out over the bleak howling of the winds “Our moment is near! The cold will slow the infected enough for one decisive strike! Ready yourselves, we move out at dawn”. A cheer went up from the group before quickly dispersing into the tents to catch what sleep they could before the upcoming assault. Coast stretched, weariness seeping into his soul from the recent loss of his commanding officers.
“You doing okay Coast?” Asked Yin from behind him. He looked different, even in the few hours they had been in Wolf Squad, rugged and willing. Coast nodded silently, slowly, and stared off into the infinite horizon. He appointed himself to take first watch, he wouldn't be sleeping tonight.

The camp began to stir just before four in the morning. Breakfast was cooked, guns were loaded, and battle plans sketched. Coast took the liberty to copy a basic recreation of the map into his field diary, which Markus had given him as a welcoming gift when he first began his training. The plan was (as far as he understood) that a small force of about five men would infiltrate the south, southwestern, and southeastern sub-entrances. The remaining soldiers (about fifteen) would attack straight down the center, through the main hall. Coast shuddered, remembering the horror that had befallen him and Yin. The local heavy weapons specialist, Gregory Parsons (Greg) would blow the security door open and rendezvous with the three assault teams in the main square where they hoped the infected would cluster and be cut down. Ultimately defeating the number advantage the infected had on Wolf Squad and allowing them to be taken out in small groups. Coast agreed that the plan was sound, just as Sara gave the order to begin the attack. Coast was put with Yin into the third assault group, attacking the southeastern entrance. He hefted his newly assigned M41a battle rifle and fell in line with his commander, Rock Johana. He spoke quickly and coldly, someone Coast knew had seen action before. Coast grit his teeth, shooting a look at Yin who simply nodded and mouthed good luck. They approached the doorway, and slowly pushed it open.

Sara lead the main battle group into the hall. She had expected heavy resistance but found none. The assumption of her tactical advisor, Matt Reim, was that the amount of fighting that had been occurring near the entrance scared them off, to which Sara nodded agreement. They pressed onward at a slow jog, deeper into the dank yet airless building. Her men tensed at the sound of gunfire, the southern corridor was being assaulted.
“Come on! We don't have all day!” She shouted, increasing her pace to a slow run. To her surprise, they encountered no resistance all the way into the main square. None to speak of. She hadn't even heard a groan of an infected in another room. They ran past the security doors. Open. A cold sense of dread filled her, but she dared not show it on her face.
“Commander?” Asked a young soldier, looking around uneasily, “Was that supposed to be so easy?”. Sara smiled, a cold sense of humor prevalent in the air, “no private. That was not. Lets see how our companions faired hmm?”. They made it to the center of the compound, a large domed room with decaying potted plants and broken glass lying over the floor. It was spacious, and perfect for a drawn out gunfight, or in this case an army of the undead attacking them. Suddenly, the doors to the southeastern corridor flew open. Two young men ran, screaming, from ten or so infected at breakneck speed.
“There!” Sara pointed, lifting her weapon. The room filled with gunfire as the undead fell in a heap. By this time the eating tables had been drawn up into a sort of barricade and a command tent was being pitched, these were drawn aside to let the two men in. They gasped for breath, allowing a medic to attend to them while they explained.
“We were attacked by no less than two hundred of the things!” Gasped one, catching his breath again. The second one took over, “They waited until we were several meters inside before streaming out of the doors, windows, and even the ceiling!”. A few men looked up to the dome, and were relieved to see nothing but the reddening sky above them. Sara concluded that the same must have happened to the others, “This doesn't explain why they went from two hundred to ten, what happened?”. The first soldier replied, “Our commanding officer, Rock Johana, Must have thrown at least twenty grenades from that backpack he had on. It blew most of the infected to pieces, those who remained he cut down himself. But..” By this point he was fine for breath, but choked up. Again the second soldier took over, “By that point he ran out of ammo. He went down stabbing one of the infected in the eye...”. Sara lowered her eyes and nodded. “He will be remembered. But now we need to focus on the task at hand”. She hauled them up, recognizing them now that the blood and sweat had been wiped from their faces. “Coast and Yin! How extraordinary. You seem to have far to many run ins with these cursed beings”. Yin nodded grimly, walking over and retrieving his weapon.
“I wasn’t expecting our own survival, and by now it’s clear that the other three assault teams died in the same way as the three we left back there. How could they have known of our plan? Let alone organize so quickly in a mass defense?” Yin ran a hand through his hair and put his helmet back on, pacing. The heavy weapons specialist oversaw the erection of three stationary machine guns, two facing the right and left, toward the southeast and southwestern passages, one facing toward the north passage should they be surrounded. Sara approved of the placement before replying to Yin, “This is troubling. I doubt that the infected will make an attack now, we can use this time to see if a bug or some other listening device has been planted on us, tell the men tha-”. Her voice was cut off by a sharp bang! Sara’s body slumped where she stood for a moment before falling limply to the side with a sickening thud. The room became silent, a medic rushing to her side.
“A.. A gunshot. Through her left temple..” The medic was speechless for a moment before looking up to the people who had taken cover near the benches, “Commander Rain is dead...”. Coast couldn't take this, he went through several emotions, fear, rage, disgust, loathing, helplessness, and finally settled on revenge. He set his jaw and rose slowly from behind the table, the sun rising with him it seemed. The dull light flashed off his weapon as he rose his head to the upper window. He had just enough time to see Markus Zom’s hideously disfigured, bullet hole ridden face disappear, smoke still trailing from his sniper rifle, before the south passageway door broke open like an undead egg. As the infected streamed into the room, the collection of fourteen soldiers rallied behind Coast, and they charged with an unparalleled fury into what seemed like hell itself.

Players used and their names in the story:
@Phanta -Matthew Fan - Deceased, sniper specialist
@jkzoom -Markus Spire - Deceased, shotgun specialist

Note: Sorry about this taking so long. School has been extraordinarily demanding, and besides my own laziness this is a poor mix. For those of you who have been legitimately waiting, thank you for your patience. This is an uninteresting chapter, regrettably, as it is a bridge from the body of the story to the climax. Be warned, the fourth part is long, intense, and badass. So buckle your seatbelts boys and girls because we're going to have some crazy action!
    Thanks for sticking with me

Just like the movie Aliens. I'm 5x5, JKZOOM let's blow some zombies up!

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! Those zombies are in for some trouble

And if that fails we can always Nuke them from space - it's the only way to be sure. :open_mouth:

I've been using people from my following list first, because I know they most likely wouldn't mind as much, but yes. I can get you into the story. Unfortunately, your life won't be that long because it's part four... bad things man. Foreshadowing... ooooohhhh
