How to Play CTF: A Slightly Adapted Thread from MCCTF, Originally Made by BlueGuyARed

Hello all, if you are new to CTF and would like to begin to have more of a jump start on your journey please keep reading. If you are an old player keep reading as well there is alot of cool stuff in this thread.

So first off welcome to CTF on MCPVP. if you are in creative mode flying above a CTF match you will se several things that are special to only CTF. On CTF I can guarantee you will make at least one friend if not many more hopefully. So anyway CTF goes like this, there is 2 teams 3-35 players on each. the number of players really depends on alot of things. But I'll get to that later. The 2 teams are Blue and Red, and Blue and Red only. Each team has a flag, or a colored piece of wool your objective is to "capture" the other teams flag. The games are best out of 3, 30 minutes maximum. The way to win is to meet the certain amount of captures required to win, for example on Desert Strike V3 by flyguy23ndm and Pavo_Reality. There is 3 caps to win. Take a look below for details on your first login.



Above the general chat box is kind of your information center . First it shows your kills, Deaths, Recoveries, and Captures. Then above it, is something like this:
Captures: 0/3 Flag:[Xxprogamers11xX] Players:21
Captures: 1/3 Flag:[Doctor_Noah] Players: 21

The first section is how many captures each team has so far in the game. For example 1 capture down and 2 more to go. The next box is Flag: it shows who is currently carrying that teams flag. If no one is carrying the flag it will say home. Or if someone dropped the flag it will display coordinates to where the flag has been dropped. Then the last section is how many players are on each of the teams.

The first login, you will be put on a team and it will tell you in chat, you will have full diamond armor. 1 diamond sword, 3 steak and a compass. This is called the heavy class. High damage output and can take alot of damage. After your first login you can chose the following classes:
/soldier: 1 iron sword, full iron armor, 4 steak, and a compass
/medic: 1 gold sword w/sharpness 1, full gold armor, 6 steak, 5 snowballs, and a compass
/archer: 1 stone sword, full chain-mail armor, 4 steak, a bow with Punch 2 on it and 2 stacks of arrows.

Each class has a different ability, for example the soldier class, when you right click with the iron sword you shoot up in the air, allowing you to essentially fly in the air.

The medic class, when a teammate has below 100% armor, that teammate will receive Regen V until they have full hearts. If you hit them again they will get back all of their starting items.

The heavy class currently has no special abilities.

The archer class, basically whenever your 20 blocks away from someone and you hit somone with and arrow, it will insta kill someone and you will recieve a message saying: You were sniped by ______.

Steaking
Steak is used in a different way than in normal minecraft, each steak heals 4 hearts instead of hunger, hunger doesn't exist in CTF. See below for Steaking video.

Leaderboards
Now that you have the basic ideas on how to start CTF its time you start to build on your stats. There is a number of leader boards in CTF. To find the leader boards Click the link below:

There is 4 categories that you can place in the top 100 in. The 4 are, Capturing, Killing, Kill Streak, and Kill Death Ratio. They are determined by how you do in game, for example if you get 1,300 captures you are on the Capturing leader boards. Kill Streak is how many kills in a row you get. K/D ratio is pretty hard though, so say you've gotten 200 kills and died 10 times. That makes you K/D ratio 20.0, the more deaths the lower the Ratio goes. Now these categories have many different levels. There is the Overall capping leaderboards then there is the Class leaderboards. The class leaderboards are the same thing but they are only based upon your stats with one class. There is alot more to leader boards but you should start to figure it out after awhile.

Premium Classes:
So after a couple weeks you might feel pretty good about CTF for MCPVP, and you might feel as if your going to keep on coming back. Well there are classes that you might consider buying to make your time more fun. The other classes are,

CTF Teams:
CTF teams is pretty much a more organized way of playing CTF. There are organized teams that have a maximum of 25 members, and 7 mercenaries. You can only be on one team at a time but me a merc for many.

MCCTF had a team system that may possibly be transferred to brawl as well. It's team chat representative oriented as far as I know with overviewing by the mods. It may be changed by the time this server is implemented entirely.

Premium Classes:
The following will be information on each of the Premium Classes. Feel free to reference this in the future.

/Mage-Use your wide range of spells to defeat your enemies! The mage class uses 5 main weapons, the damage spell, flame spell, freeze spell, lightning spell, and heal spell. The best way to use this class is offense. Counter:Stay in open areas. The Mage hotbar:




/Assassin-Right-click redstone for a power boost, right-click sugar for a speed boost. The assassin class allows you to right click red stone and for the next 3 seconds anything you touch will be insta killed besides zombies. If you take damage during that 3 seconds then you will be killed. Counter: Hit-Block when and assassin is near you, assassinations don't work if your hit blocking.This class is best with recovery. The Assassin hotbar:




/Chemist-Potions. Lots, and lots, and lots of potions. The chemist class allows you to use a number of potions to help yourself and team in game and weaken your game. All potions are splash.


The Chemist Class can be used for any role. The Chemist hotbar:




/Dwarf-Crouch to charge your sword for more power! With the dwarf class whenever you crouch the XP bar on your screen will go up fast at first but slows down over time. At level 5 you get Fire Aspect. The Dwarf class is best for defense. The dwarf hotbar:





/Engineer-Place regenerators, turrets and teleporters to help your team! The engineer class allows you to place turrets that when you fill with arrows fire at the other team. You can hit a turret to destroy it, as it has "turret health." You can place cake to give your teammates a regenerative effect. Place teleporters at spawn so that your team can go to where you are at. You have a sharpness pickaxe to help fend off people trying to destroy your teleporter. The engineer hotbar:





/Ninja-Invisibility, flash bombs, and Enderpearls make up this stealthy class.With the Ninja class you can use your Sharpness 4 gold sword to annihilate enemies then make an escape. Remember there is a delay when you switch from Sword to Invis. The ninja class is best used as recovery. The ninja hotbar:





/Necro-Monsters are your friends.The necro class allows you to spawn multiple mobs in a location. The mobs get kills but you get the credit. Get more kills to level up your mobs.
The necro class is best for defense. The necro hotbar is







/Pyro-Light your enemies on fire for insta-kills.The pyro class give you a bow that when arrows hit your enemy they burst into flames, if you then hit them with your insta kill axe they will die. Use your flint and steal to also kill a pyro. The pyro class is best for defense. The pyro hotbar is:



/Elf- Fun class with many abilities! 10 arrows that regenerate, 4 different elemental abilities that range from grounding enemies to flying, elf is a new domain to explore! The elf hotbar is:
