Idea [Rework] Assassin

    So, with nothing to do since CTF is in the process of being transferred hosts, I made this beauty! I think assassin needs a rework for obvious reasons, although it shouldn't be the highest priority now.

    Armor:

    Leather Helmet (Died Yellow)
    Leather Tunic (Died Yellow)
    Leather Trousers (Died Yellow)
    Leather Booties w/ Feather Falling IV (Died Yellow)

    Passive Abilities:

    Swift Feet - Constant Speed II
    Lifesteal - 4 hearts of instant health after killing an enemy

    Hot Bar:

    Slot 1: Iron Sword
    Slot 2: Redstone (Renamed "Activate Rage")
    Slot 8: Nether Star (Renamed "Class Selector")
    Slot 9: Compass

    Abilities:

    Rage Mode - Right clicking your Redstone will activate "Rage Mode". In this mode, all armor is removed, and a red will is placed on the assassin's head. The redstone is replaced with the assassin's iron sword, and the assassin is given Speed III and Weakness I for the duration of the rage mode. Every hit with the sword deals 4 hearts of true damage. When an enemy is blocking, they only receive 1 heart of true damage per hit, and the assassin will take 1/2 a heart of true damage for every time they hit a blocking enemy. Rage mode lasts for 5 seconds, and takes 20 seconds to regenerate.

    I think it would be cool to add different abilities such as a slowness inflicting one, or one that gives strength to allies and slowness/weakness to you

    First off, YELLOW ARMOR?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?
    I like the idea doe, but I still like the assassin how it is. Similar armor and dmg as the pyro but fast as the ninja and can be able to block assassins and.... Wait what are we talking about?

    Assassin is fineeeee.
    It has already gone through like 200 million nerfs.

    Assassin will get completely skrewed over with this. This is a weaker redstone, and we know how redstone already plays out. Tbh, you can't really avoid this unless you get rid of assassins blocking mechanic completely.

    That's the problem. The more you nerf the damage output the more it loses in comparison to Ninja. When I'm running from an Assassin I receive knockback from his hits so they can't be dealt in immediate succession which would make me able to steak before dying.
    Assassin and Ninja are so similar that there is only a very small difference once you remove the instakill. Assassin needs an imaginative and unique rework instead of a straight nerf.

    @Starfactor_ Yes, that is what this rework intended to do. I wanted to do something that removed the instakill part, but had a high damage burst while making it semi useful without the redstone.

    @ProfeshunalSpelr How is it fine?

    Personally I think assassin is fine as it is. It's called ASSASSIN because it KILLS (most likely instantly)... it's an assassin. It's already been nerfed before. Why keep nerfing it? I liked it when there were 2 redstones and 3 sugars :/

    The problems with Assassin: (Keep in mind that this is my opinion, idk what furtles thinks of it exactly)
    • The instakill in general: Instakills aren't fair, same goes for instaheals. They both 'destroy' the work from before in less than a second.
    • The ping: getting assassinated although you were blocking. More info needed?
    • When an assassin uses its redstone, you often see them switching to redstone and holding it for one or two seconds. But it has occurred to me multiple times, that I didn't even see the assassin using redstone. The player never had it in its hands, how can you tell that he used it?
    • The constant F5 checking/assassins that hide: I'm seeing myself constantly watching my back with f5, whenever I go around a corner where the possiblity to get assassinated is higher than usual, I block. I'm constantly afraid of getting instakilled (which is ridiculous in a way).But even with that, many assassins manage to still come out of nowhere. You even have to watch the top of buildings etc. You may say "That's possible with ninja (and other classes) too", and yep, that's true, but at least you have time to react then. You're able to steak.
    • Did he use it? or did he trick you? The only way to find out is the damage you get, which makes it pretty hard for newcomers and even for more experienced players. How can I watch the damage I get, when an Iron sword deals almost the same (as the one heart when redstone is used) to this class, while I'm getting attacked by other players too?
    • Other players which attack you together with the assassin, can easily kill you , because you have to block and guess when the assassin used restone. As an example: It's not easy to stay alive if you're attacked by an assassin and a group of two ninjas and a heavy.
    You may say that I'm just too slow to react, yep, maybe, but the normal human reaction time (not a reflex, but an action you're fully aware of) is about 300ms. Combine that with a ping over 100ms (mostly 125-300ms for EU players) and combine it with the time you need to block (did anyone even notice that? the animation takes about 100ms, idk exactly, but you'll get assassinated when you aren't fully blocking).
    All together makes between 500ms and a full second. Not fair imo.
    But these are just my two cents...

    I like the idea, although leather armor is a bit of an overused concept in ctf

    @Miskey Everything in here is just an idea, the values and stuff can always be changed.

    Now, I have not played CTF in a few years but I'm pretty sure assassin doesn't need any huge buffs..

    All the things I listed apply to the current version of assassin too .-.
    I originally wanted to be it about the current version, not the old.
    The nerf from two years or so (one and a half? idk exactly) wasn't really a big nerf, it seems to me that it was more like a 'bandaid fix', it didn't change anything beside the number of redstone and sugar. Assassin definitely doesn't need a buff, it seriously deserves a nerf/rework

    @Starfactor_ @Frappuccino This isn't a nerf or a buff. It's a rework. It's meant to change the playstyle of assassin while keeping the same idea. It really does need to be changed. If you read @TTD3 's post, he lists everything that's wrong with it. How does it not need a change?
