I'm staying with skype and I'm sure most of TT will. It's nice to have separate groups for all the matches we play in since I can just post the roster/tactics there and people can view it easily.

I never understood why people use skype. Here is my opinion:

    Skype:
    Pro:
    • Can save contacts and speak personally to them, logging each conversation
    • Can create group calls and kick players when needed
    Con:
    • MUCH more intense on your PC, compared to Teamspeak
    • Can be laggy
    • Takes a short amount of time to start up
    • Limited amount of people in chat at one time without a mess of clients
    TeamSpeak:
    Pro:
    • Very friendly on PC
    • Lots of client options, including each to mute mic, sound, change player volume levels, change layout, overlay scale, etc.
    • Can create permissions to allow more managed chats
    • Pre-made channels allow for easy communication
    • Very quick startup time
    • Can be customised massively
    Con:
    • Not many people use it (Dont really know why)
    • Need staff to move people out of channel if needed
I honestly don't know why very few people use teamspeak. It is a very easy programme and has so many features. It has a very easy to use layout and GUI.
    Just my opinion

Skype: Pro: CAN USE FUNCTIONAL CHAT OPTION!!!1!11!1 The whole reason most teams use Skype, as many people have already said, is because it allows for a functional text chat, which is most of what teams do.

    See below for why.
TC does the same thing, and I suspect most teams will continue to do this forever.

Yes, I do see why people will use skype to keep in contact, but for in match gaming, and when you want to talk to people, Teamspeak is the better choice

This is true. However, setting up separate chats for each match with Skype is much easier.

    A few things
1.) Should's skype taking a short amount of time to be set up a pro?
2.) Skype allows to create permissions for more managed chats
3.) It only takes a few seconds to start a skype group

Why not just let teams use Skype to do their thing? Use it for calls just like they did on MCPVP. It worked there, I don't see why it won't here. brawlers can have their TS and we can use Skype. Why does it feel like you are forcing us to use TS when we obviously don't want to.
As for mods reffing, not like they're in Skype calls anyways...I'm not in a CTF team so idk if they are.
Plus, new CTF teams with only Brawl members can use TS if that's what they want.
    Also, Skype > TS. Kthxbai

Agreed imo but all i would say rn is Skype is better for CTF teams than Teamspeak because of the rep chat

Skype is also better for me because it works on mobile devices and if someone's background is too loud that's why they invented a mute button. Its way better for CTF and new team members aswell .

Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything here, some prefer TS and some prefer Skype. This thread is more of a discussion about why one of them is better than the other. ^^

As I said in another thread, Skype hasn't updated on Linux for nearly 4 years now so I would really like to switch over to team speak

CTF players don't only use Skype for match calls, we message, video call, send inappropriate pictures etc (that last one definitely counts as a point.), imo there really is no point switching from Skype to TS if that was a requirement for match calls, as Tenshi said "if they didn't use team speak before they won't start now". Skype is a better way to keep the community together, or at least to most of the people in the ctf community from MCPVP.

I don't suppose CTFers from MCPVP ever (or rarely) had to deal with another stealing individual's IP (after all, you shouldn't add strangers on Skype.), Harassment on the other hand happens all the time in game or off game, however it SHOULDN'T be the moderator's job to keep your peace on how easily you get offended by someone you have accepted into your contact on something off the server. people might say otherwise but I believe if you have decided to add someone on something off the server, it is your own doing and you should not have to have someone to babysit you. Surely if they harass you in game you have the right to report, but if it was on Skype (or whatever messaging software), you can always block, remove or ignore, the least you can do is post a rage post on the forum about how someone has been treating you wrongly somewhere off the server. I don't know about Brawl players but, we, MCPVP people are civilised (or the most of us are). The reason why I don't use and is not planning on using TS is because to me it's difficult to function, everyone I need to have as a contact is on Skype so TS is just an unnecessary requirement and teamspeak's interface is ugly. That was my opinion on Skype vs. TS.

Depends whether you use teamspeak or skype more, if you use skype heavily (like many mcpvpers like myself did/still do), then skype can be a LOT more convenient

You can also get skype on mobile devices, as far as I know you can't get teamspeak on mobile (I may be wrong).

I think it's one of those things where if you use teamspeak a lot and have no problems constantly voice chatting (ie. no interruptions, not being able to talk, etc.) then it is much more effective than skype in many ways, but skype can also be very handy as well, especially if you don't want to use only voice chat
