Hey nice, you just listed everything wrong with the class and made it seem good!!!

The thing is, assassin is either really good, or really bad. You just stated why it can be really bad. But that's terrible game design, and makes the class broken as f0k. Assassin needs a rework.

I've been around for 3 years. I don't think you understand the concept of a rework lol
A rework is where you totally rework how a class functions, whereas a nerf/buff is giving a class less/more power. There's a pretty large difference. I know what you mean, but assassin still needs a rework :/

1.) Low armor does matter because it limits the amount of confrontation you can come across, plus it's extremely easy to kill (especially if they keep the OP crits). I don't know about you, but it's damn hard trying to cross some maps as assassin. Everyone targets the assassin, and with the low armor, it's easy to kill or lower health to 1-2 hearts.
2.) Redstone regenerates at a moderate speed where it is effective, but not overpowered. Speed III is useful, but it won't get you away from every situation (e.x. fire damage, ninjas, other assassins, archers, chemists, engineers)
3.) There is a skill curve to assassin whether you like it or not. There are reasons why there are good assassins and bad assassins. Assassin being the easiest class to play is also a matter of opinion, yet in my opinion, random killing as assassin is way easier than defending as assassin. Unless I'm a terrible assassin, I miss some of my assassinates. Sometimes I hit the wrong target, or just miss the person in general. Most of the time the person is blocking which is what they are supposed to do when expecting an assassin. I can kill people when they block too, but that happens so rarely that it isn't even a major problem, just an annoyance. Are people not supposed to expect assassins? Am I using assassin wrong if I'm hiding around a corner, and the flagholder (from experience) blocks before going around that corner, wasting my assassinate, then killing me? It's also really easy to block and then kill an assassin, even while pvping.

Call me biased, but I've had more than my share of assassinating and being assassinated. I can understand why you get so frustrated at what you take to be a overpowered and skill-less class, but it's easy to learn how to expect assassins, and how to avoid them.

Wasn't pyro first brought to CTF as an offensive class? Then when people realized that it was more suited for defense, it became a more defense oriented class. The classes were given very broad abilities (headshots, wallcimbing, potions) and then the players decided the main roles they would fill. Yes, pyro's instakill ability is very effective on defense and is why pyro is now a defense oriented class, and the same with soldier and its wall climb ability making it an offense oriented class. However, pyro's ability to instakill is very useful for taking out crowded flagrooms (without the risk of being instantly killed as would an assassin) and is very helpful on killing off recoverers, making it both a useful offensive and supportive class, yet it is mostly played from a defensive standpoint. Same goes with soldier, it's ability to climb walls and high health pool makes it perfect for capping, yet it's heightened mobility also makes it a very helpful defender, or distracting an archer, or killing off ninjas when they are in hard to reach places. Now assassin may not be as proportional to soldier and pyro as in the amount of players that use it for defense / offense against other roles, but it has a way larger main role than some other classes (medic / heavy / ninja / chemist / mage / engineer / necro / archer). What would you tell a noob to do when they go heavy compared to what you would tell a noob to do when they go assassin?

There's no point in discussing at this point. Both sides refuse to give up their opinions and neither side will take no for an answer. In all honesty, our opinions don't matter. The developers/owners say the calls. We can however, persuade them into thinking that our opinion ranks higher than theirs.

Honestly, I can't see how it is easy to block and kill an assassin while you're getting attacked by other players.
You can't attack the ninja who's beating the **** out of you and getting you to use all your steaks while the assassin is standing in front of you, laughing because you don't know if he used his redstone or not.
Again, there's no way of telling if the assassin used the redstone or not (beside the damage you get and the assassin's behavior maybe). So what do you do first? Block, exactly. And just after the assassin has hit you, you'll try to hit him, so he either dies if he used redstone or takes some damage. It'll take some time until the assassin dies from all the damage he got, given that he wasn't able to trick you. I'll usually need about 10 seconds to take down an assassin who plays this kind of game if I want to make sure that I don't get assassinated. Needless to say that this will slow down each flagcarrier etc and making him more vulnerable to the other damage he gets from other players.
I honestly don't want to say that assassin takes no skill. I mean, I'm far away from playing assassin often and can't judge it therefore. But whenever I play it (or I have to conter it), I see that Action>Reaction. You have no time to react. As the assassin, you know when you'll use redstone and you're prepared. As the one who's being attacked by the assassin, you have to react. Surely you're prepared and know that the assassin will use its redstone, but you have no idea when. So to make sure that you don't die, you have to be reaaally careful, which won't you get killed by the assassin most probably, but it's almost certain that you'll take a lot of damage by other players.

    1. Low armor does not play into assassin as much as assassin has the ability to bypass people using speed 3. An assassin has the easiest time strafing engineer and archer arrows due to its speed 3. It was pretty easy for me to cross the map with assassin. In fact, on some maps, it takes around 5-10 seconds to cross the map. Assassin is usually limited through its redstone, not armor.
    2. Redstone regenerates at a moderate speed, but the instakill is what makes it broken, not the regeneration... The speed 3 is highly useful. I'm not sure if you've realized this or not, a lot of the time, the speed is what causes ping issues as the assassin is too fast for you to block in time for the server to pick up the message.
    3. Yeah, there's a skill curve to assassin. The fact of the matter is that the skill curve is extremely shallow, with not much to learn. Yeah, you're a terrible assassin if you hit the wrong person completely or miss a click on someone, because that doesn't really happen to me in regular pvp, and nor does it happen with assassin. Plus, now you're telling me that assassin is balanced because 'you can miss a click on someone or hit the wrong person D:', which you can say for any idea or class. I.E. Pyro is balanced because I can miss the arrow! Pyro is balanced because I can misclick with my axe D:

If the guy has to block to be not instakilled, there's a problem. Because the person is now passive, and can be mauled by you or by other players with no means to retaliate, unless he lets go of the block, rendering him able to be killed by you. You also forget that I can easily feint multiple times with my redstone to make you believe that you successfully blocked, and then 1 hit kill you right after. So, what use is the counter if it isn't effective? There is a reason that assassins such as obi can get around the block so easily. There is no way for you to tell whether the assassin has used his redstone or not unless you can put on potion particles without your minecraft going into the gutter, but even then it can be confusing.

I'm not sure where you heard that pyro was an offensive class, but I've been here over 3 years, and I've never seen it be called an offensive class, even on yaf forums. You cannot pretend to know the developers intentions.
