Hello, I have been playing ctf since before brawl took over ownership (along with a lot of you). The first time I logged onto ctf I noticed the new gui. I don't like it at all. (Sorry to Nom for how i said that in chat...) anyway I was wondering what everyone else's opinions is. I like it because now the chat is out of your face. My number one problem is how it doesn't say which player is carrying the flag. And could the announcement that comes up every time someone gets the flag please be changed... I hate having something come jump onto the screen like that every time someone gets the flag... I know it doesn't make a huge deal but I was wondering if it could be added back. Also I was wondering if there could be an option to choose your gui so the players who preferred the old one could switch back to it. Also does anyone miss the /m, /t /h(ect) commands? Thanks for reading! please leave a comment of your opinion.

Those commands were intended to be added, but as of now they're broken. I'm sure Nom will take everyone's advice and fix the bugs.

I really like the chat version better. More compact, and it makes chat a lot better to read.

Nom said he would do something about /m and /t Right now, they are shortcuts to /message and /tell

I have to admit that the old look looks better. I understand he had to recode it all, but he should've gone into consideration for the players. Not for what HE thinks looks better. Sorry... @NomNuggetNom

@furtles I like the new compact look I just liked how easy it was to glance down and see if the flag is home or not.

I'm saying I liked the old version :stuck_out_tongue:
@Revised Nom is not the sole person in charge of making decisions for CTF. I hope you realize that he's not to blame for everything.

I liked the old version better, too...

Why would you have to recode, actually? What was the code bought for if people have to recode

Not only that, but it's Bukkit... It's not like every server has a different Bukkit coding system. It's one system.

Nom had to recode a lot of the code. He said 'some of the core broke' when I asked him about it. He also said 'much of it changed'. Maybe he can give you a better explanation. @NomNuggetNom

Maybe the recode will take some of the lag there was before away

My only issue is the fact it doesn't tell you who has the flag, and the coords where it was dropped. I also dun like the subtitles that take up the whole screen, but the smaller ones are fine and look pretty good.

It's understandable that old CTFers will prefer the old gui. That's what you're used to, and no one likes change at first. Give it time, you'll come to appreciate it.

@Signatured As long as the GUI is changed, I think we can adjust to it. But the flags actually changed gameplay..

The gui is fine, at least the concept. The complaints are mostly about the lack of information that was present on the old GUI that is not in the new one.

I also have to admit that the server and the game is very obscure. I really advise to take over the old look, like the cat instead of the confusing gui. I wouldn't say that i don't like it at all, but especially the fact that you don't exactly see who has the flag is disturbing. Also i'd like to mention those pop ups in the middle of the window every time something happens. This is also very distracting and (in my opinion) not done really well. I know that you all here at brawl spent hours to make ctf the way it is at the moment, but I just wanted to offer some criticism, hoping that ctf is going to be a good looking and well-attended game. Thanks.

We don't want change that breaks gameplay, creates more inconvenience than what it was intended to do. We're not nostalgic heads-in-our-ass people, we know the devs do try to add more features but it doesn't help enhance gameplay, it's removing clarity. We don't want huge text coming up everytime someone drops a flag, or captures it, i could imagine a jerk using this feature and "farm drops" to annoy the duck out of players. Thanks for all the effort but I don't need this "give it time you'll get used to it" crap from brawl admins whenever someone suggests a revert. Yes, we'd give it time if this change wasn't removing features that was in the old game and helped many players with recovering/defending.

I love you guys for saving the game.

FYI, /m and /t were changed to /md and /ty because they conflicted with /msg and /tell. So yay, those are back! :grinning:

I have to agree with @ibaetm98 and @KekiHitsuji Before you could just glance down and see exactly what player had the flag and whether it is home or not... With the new one looking to the side is more challenging in pvp or running with the other teams flag.

Edit: There has been a slight tweak with the new Gui where the flag carriers name is displayed and color to the home/taken was added and its much better. I would just like to see that the Text that says "Held by <player>" has a color like yellow or another color so its easy to just look up and see.
