Pyro is the duct-tape of ctf

    Pyro holds everything together...
    How are you going to kill that wall spamming soldier with your flag? Pyro
    How are you going to kill that pot spamming chemist? Pyro
    How are you going to kill that premature dwarf? Pyro
    How are you going to kill that spell spamming Mage? Pyro

    Without Pyro
    Chemists and heavys will rule the world
    Soldiers can wall spam and assassins can't touch them
    Mage can shoot incoming assassins without a sweat
    Elfs water element would be near useless
    Dwarfs could easily climb over level 5 without the threat of pyro's

    What would be a compromise for pyro's rework?
    One second delay per flint and steel placement - thus promoting a mobile pyro
    Iron axe instead of diamond - maybe with sharpness 0.5 if that exists and is possible
    Dwarf and mages fire can't help pyro with instakills, so their own fire would have to be on the opponent for the instakill. - again - promoting a mobile pyro
    And maybe pyro's can instakill each other?

    How are you going to kill that wall spamming soldier with your flag? Archer, headshot them.
    How are you going to kill that pot spamming chemist? Dwarf, maybe?
    How are you going to kill that premature dwarf? Assassin?
    How are you going to kill that spell spamming Mage? Ninja? Assassin?

    Literally any kit.

    Pyro's fine, there are other ways to counter all the classes.
    Also, one word: medic.

    I don't know if it's worse that that many classes can only effectively be countered by one class, or if it's worse that one class can counter so many others.

    How are you going to kill that premature dwarf? Teleport 50 players with Engineer to the other teams flag room to wear him down

    All classes need changes, Chemist is obviously one class that people understand as OP. Heavy "ruling"
    the world is highly unlikely because a Pyro nerf doesn't mean the removal of the class. I didn't know that letting Heavy survive a hit from a pyro meant that Heavy would become OP.

    Dwarf is just broken.
    You reached way too much with Mage, it's annoying but a lot of classes can kill a mage.
    Besides, doesn't the fact that Pyro acts as many hard counters just prove the horrid imbalance that CTF has? The compromises you gave don't help either, it just makes them even more campy.

    What about some classes are immune to Pyro's instakills, while the other classes take double damage on fire?

    Because there dosent always have to be a negative for a positive.

    Honestly, Pyro is one of the classes that pisses me off the most. But I cant find any real reason to remake it other then to remove insta-kills from the game. It annoys me but it serves its purpass. My only thing currenty would be change F&S to 5(ish0) fire charges that replenish over time. About as fast as Medic's webs.

    Besides that remake it after some other.. More broken classe are fixed.

    CTF needs changes, that's no secret. Chemist is a relatively easy fix, it just needs a nerf. But as for the others, it's not that easy.

    Right now, CTF is in a delicate state. Changing pyro, one of the strongest classes, would make CTF a different gamemode. Multiple classes will have to be changed at once in my opinion,

    As long as you're skilled with the class you love to play as, it can be just as effective as you say pyro is. As an archer, I can conclude that it can be just as effective as any other class so long I use it correctly and to my best ability.

    @Striker_Sly That's because archer is op xD

    But your point still stands, although I disagree. However skillful you are at heavy, you really won't be able to beat a decent pyro.

    I agree with Furtles and OP. CTF is in a delicate state, and pyro holds everything together. Drastically changing pyro right now would screw up the system.

    At the same time, I feel that small tweaks would do little justice in the long run. The bow change had no effect in 2013. There are some interesting compromises up there, but perhaps it would be more effective to wait until other classes have feasible reworks in store, before completely reworking pyro at the same time.

    Likelihood is that when pyro is reworked, other classes will be too. I'd personally like to keep instakills and just have them tweaked a little so they are harder to do, but it's a pretty controversial topic, so it may not stay that way.
    To be honest, pyro DOES need a rework. It is a very difficult class to rework, as changing it could mess up gameplay if not done properly. So as I said, pyro will probably be reworked with multiple other classes too.

    1.) Headshot them, engineer, or use the freeze spell.
    2.) Ninja, assassin, archer.
    3.) Assassinate them, or use mage.
    4.) Assassin, ninja, heavy, archer. Mage is annoying, but all it takes is a few hits and some basic PvP skills to kill a mage.
    5.) Archer, engineer, ninja, assassin.
    6.) Archer, mage, engineer.
    7.) Mage may be annoying, but all it takes is a few hits and some basic PvP skills to kill a mage.
    8.) No it wouldn't. Pyro would be REWORKED, not removed.
    9.) When have you seen a pyro try and kill a flag-camping dwarf? Never?
    This is exactly why CTF needs a COMPLETE rework. Most of the classes are broken, but changing one class would require another class to be changed.

    As several have already said, CTF's balance at the moment is quite delicate, and so it's important that the fix is dealt with correctly. Whilst I'm also in a similar position that I think instakills should be kept, it goes without saying at the moment pyro is overpowered and should undoubtedly be fixed

    Didn't the community vote to keep instakills like 130 to 40? If instakills are removed that's just ignoring the community at that point imo.

    I honestly don't know what to suggest. I understand the fact of flint and steel spamming and that can be avoided but I honestly think It's really useful against a ninja. But I wouldn't mind these tweaks but to be honest, I would remove and tweak other classes first before this one.
