    Please never take away insta-kills. Assassin was my first class for a reason. lol

    tbh, the question shouldn't be if we want a balanced game with insta-kills, the question is is that even possible?

    Okay so here's how I take it: insta-kills stop people from steam rolling the flag room. You wanna stop 3 chemists from invading without pyro? Yeah good luck with that. IMO we need them for the sake of shutting down strong melee classes like heavy and chemist. Not saying that the other classes are not fast paced, but insta-kills do make the game a bit more interesting.(pls don't kill me risa)

    Yeah, I know it's possible, but is it possible in CTF? The only reason it works in FPS games is because everyone has a gun, and everyone has access to the headshots (@RenoLegend_Sexy ). However, in CTF, only one class has a headshot. And giving every class an insta-kill is a terrible idea, because then getting the flag is pretty much impossible, let along capping it. So the question remains, is it possible to balance insta-kills in CTF?

    Its called either being really easy to kill the insta-killers, or they must have a viable solution to defend against (eg: Assassin) This is whats known as a glass cannon, its what the insta-killers are based around, having easy counters (like medics/elves/blocking) or they are easy enough to kill that they are decently balanced.

    Just because a counter exists doesn't mean the class is balanced. I know what a glass cannon is, and I even main assassin. Blocking may be an easy counter, but just because it exists doesn't mean the class is balanced. Assassin is broken because of the entire blocking mechanic. It's either you kill them, or die. It's bad because 1. That's not fun, and 2. It's bad counterplay.

    Medic is one counter to pyro that I'll admit. The problem is, you can't always medic cap, and it's the only true pyro counter. Which means the other classes are prety much skrewed. One counter does not make a class balanced. How it is now is not balanced. The question is how do you make it balanced?

    I personally dun think it's possible. An insta-kill in CTF just doesn't work. While it does work in other games, it doesn't work here.

    I'll just say a few things:

    Insta kills, in my opinion, are very fun to use. When your team can't cap because the other team's defense is too good, you can assassinate everyone in the flag room. Problem solved.

    Keep in mind, I'm not saying this is balanced. But at the same time, it offers an element to the game that, while we could certainly work without, is very unique and gets players to think of every possibility.

    @Ducksfan101 is correct that the classes define the game. It is inarguable that they do. The game has evolved around them, and I still stand by my point that removing them suddenly instead of gradually will obliterate half of the old CTF community.

    On the other hand, the "no insta kills" side of this *cough*friendly*cough* debate has some good points as well.

    Insta kills are bad for new players trying to learn the game. They control the game (in some people's opinions, for the worse). And they are sometimes basically unbeatable until it's decided you should target the class in question. Given, that itself is a downside, but being targeted matters very little if you're good enough at protecting yourself, because (let's face it) good Pyros are good at self-defense.

    I understand most players can or have already adapted to this change, but it doesn't make it any better. For example, in the metagame of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the character Meta Knight was overpowered, banned at some tournaments, and actually had his own tier on the tier list. The players adapted by deciding to either pick up the character themselves (kind of like the pro-insta-kill players), or picking characters like Marth and Olimar to counter Meta Knight (like the neutral/anti-insta-kill party in this debate). However, neither option ever made Meta Knight any less overpowered.

    All I ask of you people is to be open minded about other opinions. I made this post because I'd love to see a community that discusses things, instead of stating opinions over and over to no end. And let's be honest here: if everyone is like you people (and you know who you are), you will never convince them of anything, because they'll be too stubborn and close minded to care.

    And one last thing before I go.

    The only class who has a fair instakill in my opinion is archer. Pyro is way to OP and assassin is forced to change since the swordblock option will be removed.

    The only instakill that needs nerfing is archer, cuz there is no way to prevent it. Pyro can be prevented by going medic, assassin can be prevented by blocking.

    Elf projectile shield and dwarf block. They're not free and fixes need to be done, but you can prevent it

    Yes please keep instakills. Without them games would be really slow especially when a good medic just hides in a corner and waits for the flag to be recovered.

    I don't understand why people keep saying that the game would be really slow and terrible without instant kills. Its such a silly assumption. I mean, with that kind of logic you could literally say that anything that changes the status quo in CTF is bad for the game because it changes it. Besides, how can you tell if CTF without instant kills would be terrible when the game has never existed in that state? Did you ask your magic 8 ball that question and it told you that it would or something? Fascinating! That must have been the only way you came to that conclusion because your argument doesn't make any sense otherwise as its built off of a repeated use of the appeal to ignorance fallacy.
