Idea Mage rework concept

    After playing level 5 of HALO: CE yesterday, I figured out the problem with Mage.
    So, I'm going to use an analogy:
    A Heavy is now a covenant hunter.
    A Mage is now John-117 with a pistol.
    So, if the hunter charges at you, you'll shoot him with the pistol. It'll deal some knockback and allow for you not to take mele damage if you walk backwards when shooting. Sound familiar? However, the key difference is that, eventually, the pistol runs out of ammo and needs to be reloaded, taking about 2 seconds. So, what if Mage's spells had shorter cooldowns, but eventually needed to be recharged either manually by right clicking or automatically when depleted? In exchange, Mage could get an armor buff: Boots would go to iron and every piece of armor would get protection III, and Mage could also get feather falling II instead of I on its boots.
    Now, regarding the healing: I think we can take a page out of Ninja's book. When shifting and holding the gold hoe, Mage gets regeneration II, but it drains the spells durability. A full spell gives 4 seconds of regeneration, while a half full spell only gives 2. This makes it very hard for Mage to run, heal, and turn around.

    Same cooldowns, need to recharge spell, limited amount of heal spell so you don't have unlimited survivability.

    Armor same unless it turns out it's getting too bad. Also increase cooldowns on flame spell.

    Crap forgot about heal spell. As far as armor goes, it needs to be buffed if we want Mage to do anything useful (Ex: cap the flag). @Chactation had interesting ideas about making Mage better with that kind of stuff.

    This is just a minor tit for 500 tats.
    No thanks, the only Mage rework I'll accept is one removing knock back from damage spell or some other miracle.

    doesn't sound too bad,
    You don't really need the shorter recharge anyway, it's enough to knock an enemy back enough for another one before you take damage, I don't see the problem with it. I do like that reload idea, as though the mage were out of mana in some games

    Sounds too much, but it should get at least some protection for being unable to defend itself

    Would still need a fair cooldown for regaining durability. I do like the idea of this though

    That's called a nerf, which is not what Mage needs. It needs a rework so it can serve a purpose. @November

    Buff and nerf. Buff 1v1 resistance and nerf its ability to keep enemies at bay forever.

    So what you're saying is you'd like to give Mage a 2 second cooldown on its damage spell and no knockback on it and expect it to survive... I don't see how that works. Nerfing Mage would destroy it. It needs a rework to make it more useful for objectives.

    Please please please give Mages speed 500000 so it can cap and give it a nuke spell so that it can help team please please please! (Sarcastic exclamation points)
    I know 1337, it's just really unprofessional to use.

    I used it so that ppl could tell I was being sarcastic.
    Better then comic sans in my eyes, especially because I've had numerous incidents where I almost got banned simply because they didn't know that comic sans meant sarcasm.

    Anyways, Mage does not need a nerf. A rework, sure. Not a nerf though.
