Although I really don't agree with your promotion, you're a mod, and I will respect that. I know you're a great guy, and you do deserve a chance. CTFers can be a bit harsh at times, but if you can prove you're a cool guy, we will warm up to you. The mute was legit, don't worry about that. Good luck in your trial stage!

 

i was in game when it happened and the people who were saying that stuff are basically the irrational anti-brawl people who will hate on brawl at any given opportunity. if u want my advice just try to ignore them and only do stuff to them when you have to, and when you do take screenies of what you did it for, cuz, as i said, they will take any opportunity they can to hate on brawl and their staff.

if u wanna get involved in the ctf community then joining a team isnt a bad idea. plus if u just talk in chat as a casual player then you will meet nice people quickly d:

@Algelier let me start by saying I am opposed to you becoming a moderator at this stage of the game. Really anyone coming over from brawl has very little to no understanding of the intricacies of the game it took most of us moths if not years to comprehend. Despite this, as long as you're nice, I'm cool with you being staff. You are staff now, so that's that.
Now, I really don't know you as a person. Maybe you're nice. Possibly you're not. You seem nice. In the overwhelmingly likely scenario you are a nice person, that's 1/3 of the game right there.
The other 2/3 comes with knowledge and experience. My advice is to shadow the other mods and see what they're doing. They have a good read on what the community wants 95% of the time, and make very intelligent decisions.
Also, for now, if I were you, I wouldn't state my opinion very boldly on controversial topics. You are our staff now, and your opinion means more than anyone else's. If it's something many people disagree with, trust me, with a community like this, it will end poorly. I've been on the receiving end of that and I've observed it too. Just some advice
Anyways, as long as you're nice, I'm cool with it. I may disagree with your promotion, but it's most certainly something that I can handle.

Hah I was arguing for you this morning I one of the chats.

The whiny ctfers can't have their way in everything. Its brawl, their rules, their ways. They trust their mods, so they allow them over ctf. They don't 'need' to promote our regular mods. They didn't even need to keep our mods, but they did. Don't push it.

Definitely join a CTF team. Right now, although you have a fancy name that says that you're a figure of authority, many CTFers may not respect that. That's kind of reasonable. Most of us don't know you and have never seen you around the servers, much less as a mod. So if you do, in fact, want to moderate the community, the first step is becoming part of and understanding it. The best way to do that is through a team. If you truly care about the gamemode and show that, you'll get a lot more acceptance and respect than you have from being appointed by Brawl.

Algelier was picked to be staff for a reason. If you see a reason why he shouldn't be staff, report it to Raven or Cuddle. I don't want to see any of that stuff in the chat. It really tells you something when he goes and has to make a thread about it, especially when he was promoted (perhaps temporarily until SGG is back.) to CTF mod just 2 days ago.

If you have an opinion, be respectful about it.

No, Shinx was talking about a Hardcore Games moderator from MCPVP I believe. Alg is a Survival Games moderator (and now CTF mod).

 

Well, Brawl and McPvP HAVE been merged for a long time... they don't have a right to call you a noob. Plus being a CTF mod doesn't mean "You get to play CTF and be really cool", you actually have a job in moderating the server, they have no right to blame you. Plus they're no lifed CTF and think they're the kings, that's just selfish and they have no room to blame others.

Maybe if *some* of the ctf community wasn't so elitist and critical and instead more outgoing, this problem wouldn't have happened.

 

Lumping the community with a few bad people can be done the other way around too, perpetuating the idea that communities are inherently negative just cause animosity so it'd be better to just not contribute if all you want to do is jab at the community which is obviously showing respect for what Algelier has to say.

Let me just say that I've got no ill will towards you, and I'm sure that you'll do an excellent job moderating CTF, but you have to understand why some people would be annoyed by the way you were able to make it into mod for our gamemode.

I mean, maybe I'm misunderstanding, but your description of the events is literally 'my servers were down so I asked to moderate and they said "here, moderate CTF" ' (in so many words). That's... not exactly a good thing. I mean, how would we know you're a good mod? Where will your time lie when your other servers come back online? Do you even play the game often, or have you got as much invested in the game as we (not exactly including me) do?

Yeah, it's brawl's game, brawl's rules, but that kind of action leads down the MCPVP path, towards more *shudder* buddokans. That's a path best left untreaded. Ever.

Again, I mean you no offense (and frankly it's not in my nature to care if you are offended, but I digress), but as much as I'm glad to see you wish to moderate CTF, I'm going to protest the circumstances of your promotion. Nothing more.
