Idea Minecraft CTF 1.9 classchange #2 [Soldier]

    Soldier: one of the most powerful, but yet free class class on CTF. It can make serious recoverer's blood boil with its endless escape. Untill now...

    With this class change I hope to provide some action into soldier's gameplay and to get rid once and for all of the 'see ya' status it bears today.


    Soldier 1.9 (premium):


    Mainhand: Iron sword
    Off-hand: Grapplinghook (Fishingrod)
    Armour: Iron helmet, chain body & legs, iron boots (Featherfalling II)
    Buffs: Speed/jump I (or both)
    Others: 4 soldier steaks, netherstar & compass

    Abilities:
    -Grab & hit:
    When an enemy is on the grappling hook (unlaunched), the first hit of the soldier does double damage!
    -Flaggrab: The soldier is able to grab the enemy's flag from a distance by using the grapplinghook
    -Launche: And ofcourse, the soldier can launche himself up by using the grapplinghook similar like the one in warZ!

    I'm just going to say that IMO it's too early to plan 1.9 classes because the update isn't even close to finished and many things could change. This comes directly from Mojang.

    The only nerf i would give to soldier would be to limit it's wall-climbing. That's all in my opinion. I honestly think there wouldn't be a point to change the class completely.

    Sorry, but IMO that's not going to do it. Soldier should have extreme limits on its climb ability (only able to climb sides not top/bottom of blocks, not able to climb for 1 second after taking damage or while on fire, EXP bar for cooldown).

    well my grapplinghook makes it unable to climb in the immediate second...

    I think it's too severe of a nerf. It might work though. Too early to plan with 1.9 features though.

    This doesn't fix the spam and continued and infinite escape, which is the main problem of soldier. Also, the flag grab ability should be limited to something like 3 blocks (You can only grab the flag if you are within three blocks).

    Soldier is meant to be a cap class and as a flagholder it does need certain escaping abilities. Now the grapplinghook isn't as OP as the immediate wallclimb provided by right-click sword. It takes 1-2 seconds to throw out the hook and then draw up (I balanced this a bit with the speed/jump I). Also, soldier will suffer falldamage, but will have featherfalling II.

    Now I admit that could be a good idea you stated, some passive autograb by having a larger pickupzone.

    I think flag grab is way too op. Like if there is an open space above flag and the soldier just grabs the flag, nobody could reach it unless it's another soldier, elf or ninja.

    I don't like the rework, it doesn't really make it a soldier and it would be great if ts a new class instead.

    You do have a point on flaggrab, but as @furtles stated, flaggrab could also be an enhanced area of the flag-pickup. I kind of based it on the decent flagrooms, because I rather see black/whiteout kind of flagrooms dissapear. In my opinion the launche timing of the grapplinghook and the fall damage added does fix the escapespam problem soldier bears today, but I'm glad you like the concept @xxMineSheepxx

    What he said. It's way to early, minecraft will likely update later this year and brawl will take one year to implement it.

    I think that the best way of changing soldier, is just add a xp bar which decreases everytime you wall climb, when it's empty, you just have to wait. Maybe this will be a good new class; I don't see anything from the current soldier back in it.

    When you are thinking of class reworks you have to consider most people don't want to learn a class with a high skill gap. Take elf for example. The class can be really effective but the odd time you see it its either someone spamming the ground pound thing, flying around like a bird or deflecting arrows. Imo pyro should just be given an iron sword and instead of insta killing people on fire it just as a damge multiplier.

    Yea, soldier is one of the most used classes. By the way, I create all my reworks from a business perspective so brawl can make money...

    Quick question. Do you HONESTLY think that those of us with no money would stay if we had to pay for our favourite class? That's worse for business than keeping one of the most used classes free.
