Is CTF about kills?

As the mighty Stud once said, CTF is TDM with an objective. Ultimately the objective is what differentiates CTF from TDM, therefore - no, CTF is not about kills, it's about caps and recovs. But kills contribute to that objective and though they're not what the game relies on, I would agree that they are nearly as important.

 

Well, uhhhh, umm, well, ahem, um. Yea I can't really have an opinion on this much as that's kind of what I do I guess? I guess I could say that kills make me feel good? I don't really know.

 

In ctf, there is no such thing as random killing. Only type killing. Honestly, you can count type killing as helping the team because it adds a kill to the tie breaker. Also, when the person finish typing, he/she will go back to the objective. Tes type killing is annoying because when you get killed, the sentence you spent time on is gone and you'd have to retype it.

Does type killing count as helping the team, or just type killing?

 

Do kill steals count as kill stealing or just helping out the teammate??

I've always wondered this question, especially when people scream it to the world...

CTF is at its core a PvP game mode. Sometimes, I think people make more of it than there really is.

 

CTF will always be a TDM with flags, unless there's a major game balancing with respawn timers etc. can't even imagine how much thought it would require to make it a legit ctf game mode regarding class balance.

 

I view kills as a 'how high can you go' kind of thing when capping isn't what I want to do.
So I go and see how 'high I can go'. criticize me all you want for me spawnkilling with pyro but it aint my fault they don't know what /medic is

 

There's always that one person who brags about their k/d at the end of the game...
Seriously though, people care about their k/d?

CTF isn't really about kills. The only things kills represent imo is the tie-breaker. But I believe more kills shouldn't determine a winner, again my opinion. I think it should be something like more possession of the enemy flag. Plus a-lot of peeps in many cases just target weaker classes with stronger classes and think they are good, not going to say any names. I think, in my opinion, that these peeps should just go to kit, or something else. After all, the main objective is to Capture The Flag, not Get More Kills.

i find that it's a bit of a stretch to say that kills don't matter in CTF. When you kill someone they have to go back to spawn. you can help your team by taking out enemy defenders, taking out enemies trying to get the flag, and trying to recover. It's pretty rediculous that people think kills are useless I don't think I ever saw anyone saying kills are mostly useless 2 years ago when I first played the game.

 

Of course, in some cases, CTF is about kills. I just think they shouldn't determine the tie-breaker.

One idea might be possession. This is the closest thing related to captures.
